-Test it on a constant inclined but not necessarily uphill road. Say, something like in C5 Rosario flyover, long enough and steady inclined. A sliding tranny will decrease speed almost up to a point that the car will halt.
-Check the ATF also, it must be reddish in color, should not smell burnt and adequately viscous.
-Be observant of the transmission response when engaging from "R" to "D" and vice versa.
Some tranny lags when R is selected from D or from D to R and then sometimes jerks when it realizes that it already lags in response. Not a good sign.
-Check if the 'OD' functions well. You may need this for proper overtaking or going over steep inclines.
