850k won't get you a decent pickup, let alone SUV. But if you're willing to go for 2nd hand there would be lots to choose from. If you're not planning on selling anytime soon, the previous gen Ford Everest offers great value for the price and is the newest unit in its class you'd get with a certain budget. Durability and reliability are top notch too, with hardly any known issues. If you plan to sell in the next few years, then go for the best Fortuner you can find for your budget. When selling time comes, you'd notice that resale value hardly even moved and getting rid of it is a piece of cake.

Depends on the condition, I suppose. A quick check in OLX shows that with 2008 Avanza's they mostly ask for in excess of 300k. Perhaps you can start from there.

Well... Most of our cars are 2nd hand, and its really kinda 50/50. Do you think it'll be risky for the guy who's gonna buy your Avanza? Same thing. But if the car you buy is still quite new, say a 2014 model or newer with, say, below 20tkms on the clock, then there's exponentially smaller chances of having to pay for possible repairs as compared to a 10 year old unit. Just bring a reliable mechanic with you to better check the car.

I'd suggest you check out the Everest's. They're usually the cheapest. Montero's too, the base GLX mostly. IMHO the Everest has better kit and is tougher though the Montero looks and rides better. Best to check out both personally yourself.

So is it better to buy a 2nd hand 2015 everest than a brandnew 2016 ecosport or a brandnew 2016 avanza?

Personally... I'd definitely go for the Everest. The class difference between that and an Ecosport or Avanza is very far apart. Given that the Everest wasn't driven to the ground in its one year of life, it's pretty much the same as brand new. We had a 2013 Strada, and it felt the same three years and over 30tkms down the road as it did the first time I drove it. Nothing ever needed fixing, just routine maintenance until we surrendered the car, which my uncle bought on installment and hadn't fully paid for yet when he ran into financial trouble, to the bank a few months ago.

AFAIK Olx has the most ads, and most of what you can find in other buy and sell sites have the same ads in Olx too. That's where we bought our 2011 Santa Fe last 2014.

I would like to us why do you choose to buy used cars over brand new ones? How was the condition of the used car you bought?. I'm considering of buying used car nalang.

Simply because it's cheaper. If I'm picky and patient enough, I can get a car with zero or minimal repair cost for a fraction of the cost of a comparable brand new unit. Even if I do have the money to buy a brand new unit, if I have such option then that's months, or even years worth of gas and routine maintenance money plus upgrades. Oh, and the BIR doesn't notice you as much. 😂

Ask you bank if they have repossessed cars and sometimes the prices are lower than the one posted in OLX. It does not

guarantee that repossessed vehicle are better buy than cars that is being sold by personal owners.

Suggestions are the Honda Cr-v, Mitsubushi Montero GLX/GLS-V, Subaru XV and Isuzu Alterra

If it is for keeps... Everest ako. Matic tranny is a boon in our dreadful traffic. Everest also has significantly bigger 3rd row space. Some people don't like the Everest's traditional looks, but I am not one of them.

Ah, ayun naman pala. Kaya nasa sayo. What will you use it for? The Everest will carry a heavier load due to the rear leaf springs, but the Fortuner would not be as jumpy. A test drive of both would be the only way for you to arrive at a final decision.

If you should want to get the Everest, ask around from your local mechanics if Everest parts are readily available in your area. Toyota parts should not be a problem anywhere in the country, especially with that engine which it shares with the Innova, Hilux and Hiace.
