March 8th, 2013 03:31 PM #1I am looking to buy a 2nd hand suv/cuv, budget is up to 600k max, 2nd car sya I still have a sedan (civic sir). In that price range mga nakikita ko sa sulit mga crv, tucson, sportage, escape, xtrail, ang pasok sa budget....
So which is better buy.... Criteria
1. Fuel consumption - cost of using
2. Durability/maintenance - cost of maintenance
Alin ba talagamas practical... Diesel or gas engine? If diesel I get the a/t butif gas baka m/t na lag para pataas km/l

2. ill go with the japanese IMHO, nothing against american and korean made
un CRV alam ko may ni-release na MT yan 5 speed, pero mas prefer ko Xtrail un nga lang AT gas

March 8th, 2013 07:47 PM #3The most practical choice for me would be the Sportage or Tucson CRDi. You get a torquey diesel engine with thrifty fuel consumption. Its not as desirable as the others in terms of aesthetics or performance though. Maintenance cost is also a few thousand more expensive than the gasoline powered ones per routine maintenance session.
What would you usually carry or bring in this car, by the way?

Im getting 7-8 km/L city driving and 9-9.5 km/L highway with my X-Trail. Plus sa 600k max makakakuha ka pa ng 08 model since mababa resale value ng X-Trail.

this will be used mostly as a weekend / out of town car, I just used the sedan as the daily driven.
yup I like the tucson and sportage to crdi engine sa mahal ng gas ngaun pataas pa ng pataas but I heard mas mahal and maintenance ng ganitong eninge no idea never owned a diesel... how about parts di ba mahirap hanapin? BTW Im from Batangas...
Musta po maintenance costs ng Xtrail? di ba mahal ang parts?
the Pajero and everest is a good alternative as well... thanks

March 11th, 2013 01:13 PM #9Additional Question
Is it more practical to buy a gas engine than the diesel engine due to aged? at that money, ang abot lang model 04 to 06 depends on the units, I be using it for atleast another five years, hindi ba mahal maintenance ng diesel engines pag medyo luma na? If brand new no question its the diesel advantage but when parts start to break down in those years, di ba mas madali at mura kung gas engine? thanks

IIRC they're with AVID. The reported numbers in the TG article are from CAMPI.
