    Ohh, JDM Numbah One! [emoji23]

Personally though I would prefer a stock unit. We do not know if the car has been raced, or the quality of the modification work, especially if the owner is selling for cheap. Should you plan on modifying the car, an already modified unit takes half the fun out of it!

Also with 250k, you can already get an FD...

The EK is truly a timeless design. A well kept unit will not look out of place among a parking lot of new cars.

However, I am deterred by its lack of safety features. For a car that is supposed to be designed to go fast, there are no airbags, no ABS, and non SiR variants still have rear drums.

I am a believer of the idea that the car is sort of like a painting by its owner. A car that is already set up reflects the previous owner's artistry and not mine. [emoji28] Therefore, an all original, bone stock unit is more valuable in my eyes.

Also, if I were getting an EK, it would be either the SiR or nothing! [emoji23]

Yes, I meant the legit PADEK454 SiR. [emoji1]

A now-deceased family member used to drive a 2000 SiR (in passion orange, no less!), from 2000-2005. I believe he sold it for around 400k at the time, and replaced it with a brand new Accord 2.4 for 1.4M, which he drove for 11 years before he passed away. We only got around to selling the Accord a few months ago. It had an aircon problem, which we for some reason could never find the right part for. So it was sold for just 150k.

I find it funny that the previous SiR is actually worth way more now than the Accord that replaced it. And its value has not budged in the over 10 years since we sold it! Already a classic! Definitely worth the extra 50-100k over a souped up VTi, if you have the budget.

Should you really want that VTi though. I suggest you go for a cheaper, stock, all original unit and then modify it yourself. The sense of achievement of building your own is priceless!

Those engine mods alone tell me they've been pushed hard.

I’m a Honda boy myself, owned a few over the years. I love the EK generation. Golden years yan ng Honda including the EG (92-95 civic)

But for me, at least dapat may ABS & Driver/Passenger air bags. Minimum safety feature requirement ko yan. In other countries though may airbags ang EK civics. Not sure ABS.

It depends.. I mean if you want an upgraded civic for the power? maybe they're ok. Ask what kind of oil they use. Additives if any. Some hide engine noise with viscosity thickeners. Or if they use 15w50 or thicker. Smoke on the tail pipe?

Buying these oldies depend on two things, engine ok-ness and the rust.

    Go stockengine
