July 27th, 2004 04:54 PM #1guys, i have an old school punch 200ix amp. this thing gives out a clean and steady 400 watts rms at 4 ohm bridged mono at 12.6 volts and 500 watts at 4 ohm bridged mono at 14.4 volts.
this thing used to power a soundstream SPL 160 15" sub, so it is very strong and clean.
what size and how many targa subs should i run off of this?
i was thinking, maybe 4 10" subs, or 2 12" subs or 2 15" subs. what do you guys think?

July 27th, 2004 05:11 PM #3siguro a pair of 15 inch subs na lang. Pajero naman ang kotse ko, so maraming space sa likod. tapos the box will be dual down firing, para stealth. the dual 15s will cost less, play lower, and move more air. mukhang dual 15 magiging decision ko
what do you guys think?

what kind of sound do you want?
bayo!?gapang?
or just the right "punch".
the general rule is, the bigger the sub..the more gapang.
the smaller...the punchier.
id get the 2 12"'s.over kill na ang 2 15's kung hindi karin naman magpapabayo.
4 10's?sayang sa space...

pero kukuha ka din lang ng subs and kaya naman nung amp mo i suggest kunin mo na lang yung 15" compared dun sa 12". medyo nabitin ako sa 12" bumili din ako eventually nung 15" sayang lang sa pera. well its based on my experience.
and mahirap mabitin

as ive said, tingnan mo muna kung anong klaseng type of music ang gusto mo.
i wouldnt want to use 15"s when i listen to patricia barbers, dianna krall and the likes...
but i think mabibitin ako sa 12 inchers if im listening to BOOOM BOOM BOOOM all the time.
and i don't believe that you have to use all of the amp's power....

July 27th, 2004 05:34 PM #8i will be using a 4 way setup, so my subs will be playing low frequencies lang talaga. maybe 70 hz down to 25 hz lang. i will be using a separate midbass from 80 to 200 hz and a 4 inch mid and tweeter component set to go from 200 hz and above.
siguro with the crossover points set at those areas, my midbass can handle the punchier songs and the 15" subs can always be there in case i want to go boom boom. and the 12 inch can only play down to 30 hz, ang 15" goes down to 20 hz.
any opinions on this?
