December 10th, 2007 08:38 PM #2Yup, you can use the Pioneer HU to drive a small sub but the output is only 50 watts x 2 or 70 watts x 1. Quite weak but better than stock. It won't make bayo, if you want that kind of sound quality.

pero significant naman ba yung magiging difference kesa sa stock?
I have DLS seps sa front and Pioneer coax sa likod.
baka sakaling makatipid ako by not buying an amp.

December 12th, 2007 04:57 PM #8I checked my 4950 manual. Did not even know this feature was there. Di kasi ako nagbabasa eh dinadaan sa kapa.
The manual claims 22 watts x 4 rms. The direct sub function combines the rear speaker outs to a 70 watt 2 ohm max. As I said in a previous post. Dont belive these figures. Overstated yan. Ganyan talaga lahat ng HU manufacturers.
You can connect your sub directly to the HU. It will work. Same with the DLS. If it sounds good enough for you then your all set. If not then stick with it until you have cash for an amp.
Personally, I still prefer a dedicated amp for my seps and subs. A 4 channel Fenton or V12 amps is perfect for budget setups. They give a lot of power for their price. I only use the HU's amp for rear fill.

di kaya uminit ng todo yung HU mo hanggang sa magprotect or masira?
imagine 50rms plus yung sub siguro di bababa sa 150rms tapos 22w lang ang magddrive???

I'm using P7950UB and I have a subwoofer connected directly to it using it's direct sub functionality. Significant yung difference in SQ. I don't know kung may high pass filter function yung model mo but if it has, use it in combination with the sub. Don't expect loud, boomy bass though. And don't worry about having a higher rated subwoofer than your HU. What's important is you match the impedance. Kung 4 ohm yung sub mo, connect it to the rear left channel; kung 2 ohm, connect mo sa rear right making sure nothing is connected to the rear left in this configuration; or kung may dalawa kang 4 ohm sub, just connect to both rear channels.
Try it out. Kung bitin yung bayo para sayo, then you have to add an amp.
planning to keep it for 15yrs just done 10,000 km already replaced the transfer case fluid w/...
