Yup, it's an inverter (DC to AC). There are some off-the-shelf inverters in the car accessories section of ACE Hardware. Have not tried any of those, but they look okay with me.... Further, I am not certain if there's a need to change the fuse rating of your cigarette lighter interface. so better checkout the car and the inverter manuals.

    Eto bro from CDR King:

I use it for charging my laptop, celfone and other 220v devices.

Description: It can transform DC 12V provided by cars into AC 220V, and be extensively used for such electrical equipment as cell phones, notebook computers, electric lights, digital cameras, CD players, fans and other electric apparatuses with power no more than 150W.

Mas type ko ang cigarette lighter adapters. More efficient than an inverter and less bulkier.

Switchable ang output (palitan mo lang yung tip ng plug) from 3-24v DC, * 6A maximum, which is more than enough for most mobile gadgets.

Ok naman ang inverter if you travel and you have different cellphone brands. No need to bring specific car chargers, just use your standard home charger.

But for me, my radio has a usb slot and I just charge through that.

My laptop (and its crappy battery) would sure love that inverter.

and direct sa battery and body ground ito.
