You can never go wrong with Alpine or Pioneer.

    JVC is okay too.

yes. i think that the best bang for the buck HUs now are pioneers.. the newer models are IPOD ready na and they have almost all features that you need.

alpines are also within the feature and functionality of pioneers but i think they are more expensive.

sony xplods are also fast catching up, even in the price range.

i'll go for pioneer esp the new model which is the DEH-5050
sulit sa price nya... with usb na...

ganda din ng alpine medyo pricey nga lang.
but, if budget is not a problem then i suggest you
    get the alpine 9887.

if you have golden ears and you like the best sound quality from a head unit, go for the alpine.

I have installed in my toycar is a JVC DVD HU. Ipod ready, USB port, MMC reader. Plays all formats (mp3, cd audio, wma etc. ) Downside is that I still do not have an LCD display. Pag-iiponan ko pa muna. Butas pa bulsa ko ngayon.

+1. These things are also insanely adjustable (time alignment anyone?), so you can tweak to your heart's content.

Pioneer's trumpcard is connectivity, though. Its 2008 lineup of 1-DIN head units has four of them that are USB-capable out of the box.

They also sound pretty good If money is no object and you want the best 1-DIN Pioneer HU you can buy locally, go look for the P80RS

i have an alpine stereo installed in my car but the problem is the am/fm freq hard to pick up sya ng station. medyo malabo ang mga signal unlike sa pioneer na naka-install sa isang kotse ko na maayos ang signal kahit nasa province ako umaabot yung signal ng ibang metro manila am/fm stations. by the way, my alpine HU is cassette tape player with cd changer one reason ba kaya mahina ang signal for am/fm is being an old model? im planning to buy new mp3 player for my car thats why im asking for your inputs. best quality yet cheap prices. i see sony xplod in some audio shop and the prices are almost similar with pioneer and jvc. what do you think i should buy? how about kenwood and blauntpunk HU? medyo mas mahal nga lang compare sa mga sony, jvc, and pioneer. my speakers are, in front 2 sony xplod speakers, 2 targa tweeters, sa rear naman are 2 jvc 3way speakers na oval type and 2 10inches targa sub with pro tekline amp.(ibat ibang brands) ano ba magandang HU para sa dyan? thanks!!

Okey din Blaupunkt pero ang MAHAL!

Some of their HUs also have difficult-to-install antenna connections

I remember reading about Blaupunkt's Memphis MP66 HU last year. Roughly the same as the Pioneer DEH-P7950UB I have, give or take a few features (the Memphis has more bands on its EQ I think), but it sells for a whopping PhP26k. I got my 7950 for PhP12k.
