HU turns off and back on when bass is up!??

hi guys.. i have a problem. kasi recently, i got a padala.. Aura component set, pinalagay ko sa harapan.. HU ko is a JVC, yung stock ng Hyundai Matrix, may pre amp na sya.

nung pagka kabit ko nung compo set, may seps, crossover passive, midwoofer plus pioneed 3 way sa likod, when ever i play a song that has a hard bass, for example mga songs ni fergie, nag o-off on yung HU ko, pero pag mga rock like godsmack, ok naman sya..

napansin ko, pag lumampas na ng 17 yung volume, dun sya namamatay.. ano kayang problema nito? may tama na kaya HU ko?


Tomorow, papa kabit na ako ng 12 sub, audioline ang tatak? naka try na ba kayo nun? 1k watts daw eh. plus v12 amp na alpine.

im worried na kasi baka i might experience the same problem na mag on and off..

Most probably,

1. Your amplifier is overdrived by a strong audio signal from your player. If you have the specs, determine the maximum audio voltage input of your amplifier. Otherwise, you have to limit your input. Take care, the power transistors or IC are reaching the saturation point, which in turn it will cause total failure.

2. Check your impedance matching between your amplifier and your speakers.
3. Check your dc mains power supply for possible voltage DIP during heavy bass.

Sounds like it might be a #3... time for capacitors, baka di na kaya ng set-up mo yung power-drain...

do you experience electricals dimming when bass is loud? try checking the battery terminals. baka may corrosion. experienced something similar pero my HU turns off and back on when the compressor kicks in

Ussually the battery can take up to 100A load for a short period of time. The main problem there is the wiring system (from alternator-battery to load distribution, adding there are relays and switches involved). To be sure about this, directly connect your amps to the battery terminals and observe if the problem remains the same. Assuming that the problem is eliminated, it can be concluded that the original wiring sizes or ampacity are not safely designed to upgrade the sounds to that magnitude. So, the solution is to make additional wiring based on the requirements of the additional load directly to the battery using proper protection(fuse) and relays controlled by the main key switch-accessory. The bigger the size of the wire, the better it can eliminate voltage drops.

naka kabit na po yung subs directly sa battery, with a fuse. came in with the wiring kit, got it for 1.4k, presyong kaibigan.

i cleaned the battery terminal earlier, daming corrosion.. mga white thingies na parang powder flakes. scrubbed it with a steel brish pati yung sa battery.. observe ko tomorrow kung mag o off yung hu. kanina tinesting ko, hindi naman sya nag off maski nasa no. 20 yung volume.

I have to say ha.. nagulat ako sa performance ng mga square faced subs. ang lakas grabe! saka yung mga malaysia na alpine v12 (allegedly fake), ganda ng performance. i had to put the bass to mid pa nga, instead of low.. lakas kasi talaga. box ko came from jet audio.

it still turns off pag nasa 20. actually, maski nung wala pang naka install na subs, nag o off na sya pag lampas 20 yung volume. im thinking if i should install a capacitor or buy a 2nd hand stereo.

ang capacitor ba, pwede ikabit sa stereo?

or bili nalang ako bago stereo?


or di kaya, mali yung wiring ng stereo ko? matagal kasi na stock yung auto. nabaha kasi ito, pinalitan yung combox. tapos iba na yung electrician na tumira ng electronics. in other words, iba yung nag tuklap tuklap ng mga wire at pagtangal ng combox, iba din ang nagkabit..


pero from what i remember, kasi nauna akong nagpakabit ng component set, aura 650 ata yung name.. may passive crossover sya. HU ko is a 50W X 4. what do you think guys? could it be because of the component system? hindi rin naman sya ganun kalakas. wla ngang ka bass bass yung midwoofer nya. could it be underpowered?

teka, before installing the component (speakers), ok pa siya? tapos pag install ng components (speakers), namamatay na? nalubog din ba yung HU?

Baka yung internal amp na ng HU ang problema mo. If you use a separate amplifier for your speakers, mababawasan na ng load ang HU since it will only function as a signal source. The amplifiers [which are connected directly to the battery] will be the ones providing the power to the speakers.

hindi naman lubog sir. pinasok lang sya ng h20, yung loob. pero ngayon, ok na sya.. hindi nagalaw yung hu. :D

sir otep: oo nga eh.. balak ko yun nalng ang gawin, kabit ko nalang sa amp.. or papa service ko sa jvc dito sa las pinas kasi under warranty naman sya.

you think getting a new HU is the next logical step sir?

The most and effective way to check is to use analog voltmeter to measure the voltage reaching the power amps. If the voltage drops below 10.5 volts at high audio output, then the wiring is under rated to comply with the amps power requirement. In some cases, capacitor is not the answer. As I mentioned in other threads, use separate supply with biger size of wire directly connected to the battery.

tinangal ko yung subs, nag o off pa rin sir.. papacheck ko nalang alternator ko, baka time to change carbon brushes na.

i think may problema wiring ng auto ko. yung ac ko, i can turn it on maski naka "acc" lang, diba dapat on yun?

and yung fan ng radiator, it only turns on pag naka aircon ako. pag hindi ako naka aircon, nag ooverheat ako.

yup. yun nga rin iniisip ko eh.. baka alternator problem na. or something. nagkaganun lang naman kasi ever since i had the aircon rewired.. medyo nagloko yung stereo,

at times... the idle biglansg bagsak sa 0! kaya what i did was tinaasan ko yung menor, nilagay ko sa 900., kaya hindi na namamatay.

or baka sa tuneup? hindi ko pa kasi sya natutuneup ever since napalitan ng box.. hirap talaga ng electronic ang auto.
