Actually, very possible naman to have a woofer priced at just php400. How much do you think the stock speakers that comes from a Vios? Parang less pa nga sila. Speaker manufacturing isn't that expensive at all. What is expensive is R&D and materials for them.
What I do recommend is for people to invest in their speakers. Wag naman bumili ng sobrang mahal, pero shy away from those less than 1,000php at the very least. This isn't like the watch industry where a quartz movement watch can best a mechanical watch costing fifty times more. The audio industry is more like the shoe industry. You buy cheap, you get cheap. You buy expensive and you can depreciate it a long time thanks to the quality materials. Hell, my Bally's already 11 years old and is still my everyday work shoe.
When it comes to the lower-priced items. More or less the same lang naman yan. It's not like you're expecting it to best speakers costing a lot more. I would like to recommend Ryan Audio is because they make good products at good prices.. technically speaking, they're a rebrander but a good one at that. At least may alam yun mayari on how speakers work and how to make them sound good.
Targa is Philippines' top OEM speaker manufacturer. Yun mga Sony, Sanyo, etc. na component sets niyo sa bahay? You're pretty much guaranteed the speakers came from Targa. With that said, they're pretty budget but great for the price thanks to their prolific use of paper cones. I'd happily recommend them as well.
JBL, Sony, and Pioneer all have brand names behind them. JBL is part of Harman Group, Sony is the Japanese giant conglomerate who's recently been reviving their home audio chops, Pioneer has always been a behemoth sa audio -- their high-end TAD speakers go for more than 5 million pesos a pair after all.
JBL's entry level would probably be around 2.5k-4k. It seems pretty unreasonable na bababa pa sila ng 2k.
