In the mainstream market (those less than five digits), Pioneer has more or less cornered the market at every price point that's reasonable. So I'll vote for it. Whether WHAT HU you want is dependent on you.
If you're going for a nice SQ setup, best to add a bit more and scout for secondhand Alpine 9887 units for its tuning features (EQ bands, slopes, and time alignment mostly). There are a lot if you know where to find them ;)

September 9th, 2011 03:33 PM #8Agree with sir yapoy. I'm currently using a pioneer 3350ub HU. It has a usb socket sa face but instead of a flash drive, i use a mini sd card reader. It's so tiny na it sticks out as far only as the volume knob does. And it's cheap p40, cdrking and it's glossy black to blend with the HU's finish.

Pare, okay lang yun 2 pre-outs. 90% of population just use 2 of them anyway ;)
Not really. You can find some of them second-hand at 4 digit prices. I've seen some selling at 6k.. pero sira lang nga yun CD reader . And expensive HUs are not only limited to luxury cars. Most cars that participate in the Philippine EMMA are compact cars like Honda Civics (arguably, pinakamadami) and use P99RS (35-40k) or even the uber expensive Alpine F#1 (6 digits price tag).

Depende na sa threadstarter on what he means by "simple" since our concept of price is relative. However, I would suggest you go for the 9887 once you have a budget of 30k upwards. Some people would scoff on why you budgeted 50% towards your headunit, but trust me, tuning is everything in the realm of car audio. I've seen people with Targa speakers that are optimally tuned and they sound very good for the price.
planning to keep it for 15yrs just done 10,000 km already replaced the transfer case fluid w/...
