See the speakers cut out opening on the back. If it is round, it wont fit you may have to cut it. Other option is you have to install the speakers at "bottom mount" not a "top mount".

I owned a 96SS before and I was able to install a pair of 6x9 speakers at it's rear dashboard, I think the 98 model has the same clearance and space with the 96 model so feel free to install your speakers.

sir...round din ung butas sa dashboard ko sa likod. what i did para lumutang naglagay ako ng spacer 8x11 3/4 wood then binalutan ko ng black leather. . DIY lang po sir madali lang then bolt mo ung wood from the bottom.

Mine has 6x9 speakers at the rear deck. It has a spacer to lift the speaker slightly so no cutting would be needed.

Hi having the same problem din. Been lurking here for a solution for a while.

Bilog yung butas sa likod sa akin at 6x9 ang ilalagay..parang malabo na mag butas dahil dun sa spring ng trunk ay tatama sa magnet kung i center ng konti other wise walang way makabutas sa outer sides dahil sa bakal.

Saan kaya makaka bili ng spacer na medyo angled like this:
