Android Tablet as Head Unit...

I have a spare android tablet not used for quite some time. Seen some videos in YouTube on how to use the tablet as HU. Actually I would not be pulling out the stock hu of my fortuner 2016, but rather have some sort of using some modifications to fit in the tablet in front of the existing HU. The tablet is still removable or portable. And connecting the HU to the Tablet may either be thru 3.5 jack or bluetooth.

Seen also some cool android app launchers for cars....

Should I go ahead of this plan?

Btw my Tablet is Samsung TAB S 8.4 na lte version. Although old version sya yet I think mas maganda pa yung specs nya compared to those Android HU in the market...

uubra naman yan, ginawa ko sakin dati sa taas mismo ng HU ko nakalagay ala dual screen. yun old HU ko kasi di makaplay ng ibang compression, even some mp3s di ma play.

speaker phone mode for calls
reverse camera - not unless you can buy those Wi-Fi connected ones, kaso di pa rin automatic

may rockford amp na ko noon, nanghinayang ako reverse cam feature kaya di ko ginawang tablet to amp setup para less clutter sana

... if I remember correctly... you also need an app mag on/off yung tablet

for my friends. they install automateit. maayus naman ang function nung tablet. basta may maganda ka lang na cover or mounting ok na din siya.

Been thinking of doing this sa Pajero CK, but instead of replacing the head unit I'll replace the info display and have two screens. Sakto lang size nya sa 7" tablets, which unfortunately went out of style. Luckily there are still a few stores na may new in-box Nexus 7. Kinda old, but should work well enough for Maps, OBD2 reader, Spotify and some sort of smart local playlist. Easy jailbreak too, and there are even car-HU specific ROMs for it.
