when you start your car, it displays the remaining mileage and date of your oil change/servicing schedule, so its either you reach that mileage or you reach 12-14months, then the service light will appear. so theres really no first scheduled maintenance at 2000kms.

ahhh ganun pala yun, I just checked the menu, so that means 14000 kms pa before i change oil. kaso wala pa 500kms takbo ko, may sensor ba to that detects oil degradation or based lang sa layo ng tinakbo, nakita ko rin yung sa brake pads bakit ganun 40k kms nalang sa front then 50k pa sa rear. pardon my ignorance this is my first bmw, nangangapa pa. share lang more infos, baka may alam ka pa.

ok yong 3 series ko 15k din. i believe the same lang tayo at saka don sa x1. its counting down from 15000 km right? pero its not directly equal to your mileage. ang numbers na yan ay estimate lang because it is based on the viscosity or lapot ng oil. bale yong sensor nag evaluate ng life-estimate ng oil bago palitan. so for example sa akin naka 3,000 km na ang mileage ko supposedly 12,000 pa bago mag change oil pero sa disply nakita ko 11,000 km nalang before change oil. i hope this answers your question.

    hi PD,

tulad ng sabi ko kay foresterx, tama ka may oil sensor yan na nag evaluate ng viscosity ng oil (or oil degradation) at yong nakita mong 14,000 (bago mag change oil) is approximate lang yan. di talaga exact na 14,000. sabi mo nga 500 palang natakbo mo. usually its less than your mileage talaga. ganun din sa front brake and rear brakes lahat naman yan estimates ng sensors eh.

as with benz, bmw afaik doesnt have an oil quality sensor, its just a simple mathematical formula their using, its like 12mos or 15,000kms whichever comes first, so based on your current mileage and time elapsed since the 15,000kms was first set by the workshop computer, it automatically calculates that at a certain elapsed time, your remaining mileage is this or that....... that explains why even if you only 500kms, it doesnt show 14,500kms remaining but a different mileage. So if you rarely drive your car, the date remains but your remaining mileage gets lower faster, but if youre a heavy user, the remaining mileage becomes the basis and not the date.

the brake pads have a sensor which is as thick as the pads itself, so based on the portion thats been worn out, the computer can also estimate the life left on it.

the 15,000kms or 12/14mos can actually be programmed by the dealer, this is what i think is adapted for the Philippines. but in other countries where bimmers are used more, its like 25,000kms for the first servicing.

While the internal computer does use an internal clock and calculation parameters (heat, idling, etcetera) to set the oil change interval, BMWs still have a sensor in the lubricant system to detect high levels of ions (water, metal shavings) in the oil... which, if wear is high, will trigger it to signal you to change the oil earlier.

*niky and my_bmw: thanks for the info

*promdiboy: i'm sure other car companies will do the same thing, just not sure how long it will take them.

maingay? sa bagay iba ang X1 sa 3 series. for me kasi ok naman parang tunog honda civic ko lang na naka stage 1 setup. i dont know about vgt pero ang pagka alam ko sa 3 series turbo-charge sya with small and large air intake. ang problem kasi sa twin turbo dati (problem din Mitsubishi Evolution) pag low speed pa or low rpm pa wala syang power. magkakapower lang pag nasa tamang speed kana. so ang ginawa ng BMW sa 320d model is to fit with one small turbo in series with the big turbo intake. that way pag low speed ka small turbo gagana, pag mabilis na big turbo will take-over. so walang lag sa accelaration. at least yan ang pagkaka alam ko sa 320d.

my bmw, bro hindi ako sure but i think pareho tayo ng makina, yung 2 turbo na sinasabi mo is nasa 23d na x1. ang hp rating nun is 205 na with 400nm torque. yung atin yata 177hp and 350nm,

    pics of navigation install

kinakalas yung glove compartment sa gitna ng dash.

    tanggal na.

installed oem dash kit for navigation

ecu programming, grabe ang tagal nito. more than 3 hous siguro, parang naka online yata sila sa isang site, then download ng firmware.

bali yung navigation is only a garmin nuvi na dinesign for x1, yung finish niya is same as the silver panel ng dash, then yung interface niya medyo binago para sa x1. like for example yung kotse sa gps na icon is puting x1 na maliit din (cute ito), then may icon for bmw service.

mybmw, pacompare naman, pag naka idle ka pagstart mo sa umaga, without stepping on the gas, napansin ko kasi walang idle up sa morning starts, unlike sa ibang efi engines, pag papansinin mo talaga do you feel a very very slight lumilindol feeling, may konting konting vibration sa body. as in mahina lang. i tried to give it a little gas mga 850rpm, nawala siya, i think idle is around 750rpm.
