The ahente called us today and it was indeed a new old stock (NOS), though we told him not to give us such kind of unit. It was totally clear that we didn't get what we paid for. He told us just to write a complain letter to BMW Philippines about the matter. In your opinion what should we ask for 1) a replacement vehicle with a 2006 production date. 2) Complete refund. 3) price deduction refund to the price back then. any other suggestions?

based on my experience, the first or second batch of a model year is guaranteed to have an older production year kase manufacturers start making cars the year before diba... say an '06 car, syempre ginawa yan nung '05. pero yung sa kaso ni sir boyscout talagang niloko sila kung sinabi na 06 yung kotse.
pero kung gusto nyo makasiguro, check the 10th digit of the v.i.n. #5 means 2005 model year #6 is 2006 and so on....
the production date and model year is always present on most vehicles even if its below 2000...

Check the seatbelt as well, the date/year stamped on the seatbelt flap is also a pretty good indicator of actual manufacturing year.

March 14th, 2007 01:23 PM #17well, that's a common problem with high end cars, lot's of old stocks. you can lobby for a big discount for that. ang nakakainis is other car manufacturers like mitsubishi which continues to sell fieldmasters and tell costumers that they are new models or unit when in fact they are old models and japan stopped making them since 2002 for a new model. sad to say though dami pa rin naloko.

Sa BMW to know the exact production day and week you press and hold the left button on the instrument cluster when turning on the ignition to acc. after that test 1.0 is displayed press the left button again 4 times to go to menu 1.4 there nakasulat ang 4 digit code which is the week of production followed by the year. seatbelts is not really that reliable because kaya pa din palitan ito.
