Here's my story. I am an avid BMW owner since the time I bought my BMW 325i E46 a sweet car. You can say that in the past few years I learned a lot about his vehicle. I am now in the process of selling this vehicle, one person was looking at my car this afternoon and just wouldn't agree with me that this might not be a 2002 production car so I showed him the hidden codes that can be done to find out the exact manufacturing date of the car which is more or less a year before the actual year model of the car siyempre at least a year for the transport of the car from abroad to the Philippines, customs etc. etc. , and a simple gauge check to see if everything is working inside the gauge cluster. Making this long story short he was so "bileb" that he asked me if this is applicable to all BMW cars and I told him that at least 2000 and up models applicable ito. So I showed him that it also applies to my moms 2 month old BMW X3 and lo and behold the manufacturing date is 38th week of 2004. Na shock ako i specifically told my moms dealer na wag old stock ibigay and sabi niya sa akin 2006 daw manufacturing date nito. I only had the chance to check it now eh.

So my mom called his dealer and asked him bakit? And my moms bmw ahente was surprised and would further explain tommorow na lang daw after talking with a service advisor na lang daw. Feeling tuloy ng mom ko naloko siya. Kaya pala the advisor was forcing her to get the 2.5i version rather than wait for the 2.0d version kasi siguro old stock na talaga. ( BTW I prefer the 2.5i version, all bimmers in my opinion should have an inline 6 engine).

Chance na siguro ito hingi ako ng malaking discount to get an E90 325i. Or would get a full refund and ask for a 2006 production year X3

By the way, I noticed that the E90 325's price has dropped since the official launch. Motioncars.com says 3.38M for the 325 Exec and if I remember correctly, the same model cost around 3.6M yata when it was launched. Do you know anything about it? Usually pataas ang pricing ng cars and kawawa naman yung first few 325 customers.

The car was made on the 3rd week of 2001 and it was sold as a 2002 model? It takes a year to ship and clear the car through customs? If that's the case buyers of BMW in the Philippines as getting screwed because in any other part of the world that would be sold as an 2001 model not a 2002. Does the same thing happen for other makes and model of cars?

Obviously gusto nilang i-clear yung old stocks kasi mas madaling i-benta yung bagong stocks, kaya lang niloloko nila ang customers nila in the process.

this is usual dealership practice for all brands.

when you buy a car, they give you the oldest one they have in stock. japanese makes get sold fast so the customers don't mind but bmws sell much slower so its not strange that their cars are in stock long before someone buys them (especially for big ticket models like the seven series and the M6).

I can't speak for other manufacturers but Kia stamps both date and time of production on their units. Yung mga naka-display nila sa dealership nung January had a December production date.

The ahente called us today and it was indeed a new old stock (NOS), though we told him not to give us such kind of unit. It was totally clear that we didn't get what we paid for. He told us just to write a complain letter to BMW Philippines about the matter. In your opinion what should we ask for 1) a replacement vehicle with a 2006 production date. 2) Complete refund. 3) price deduction refund to the price back then. any other suggestions?

When are they bringing out the 3 series diesel here? After loving the 530d , I want another diesel engine! Preferable the 335d hehehehehe. The X3 2.0 is using a de-tuned version of the one in the 520d tapos manual pa siya. Is your mom's X3 2.5 the one with the new 210 hp engine or the older 190hp engine? If its the 210hp engine then it should also have the new 6-speed A?T rather than the older 5-speed AT transmission. NEvertheless the X3 is a sweet city car to own. I dont know why people bash it so much.

Because the X3 is so closely priced to the X5.

based on my experience, the first or second batch of a model year is guaranteed to have an older production year kase manufacturers start making cars the year before diba... say an '06 car, syempre ginawa yan nung '05. pero yung sa kaso ni sir boyscout talagang niloko sila kung sinabi na 06 yung kotse.

pero kung gusto nyo makasiguro, check the 10th digit of the v.i.n. #5 means 2005 model year #6 is 2006 and so on....

the production date and model year is always present on most vehicles even if its below 2000...

Cars are usually made a year before its being sold. Unlike baking cakes and pastries na dapat hours before lang kasi nagmomolds na, Cars needed to be made as early as possible so as to be available for the buyers on the dates they need to be sold.

2011 cars are usally made around 2009, as to 2008 are usually made by 2006 to meet up with the demands kasi tinatransport pa ito especially kung overseas pa nanggaling.

The production and delivery is another thing, anyway thanks for your input. The issue here is that dealers must disclose/declare to customers the history of their units and not try to dupe the public of NOS units, worst is they fraudulently try to register it to the present purchased year but upon verification, the original LTO file or CRS indicates the permanent model year based on the arrival date to the country.

We are in the process of filing a lawsuit, fyi. So for all tsikot members beware of New Old Stock units.

Your damn right Shadrach! Thanks for the input. Three years to transport!!! Absurd! Further, LTO main file or CRS and Conduction Sticker is based on arrival of units to the country.

I have talked to the mom of Boyscout already and got all info on their case against the dealer. In a nut shell, their's is a case of prefaced and new body model. They got the prefaced model but paid the new body model. NOS! and just like with me they were not honest and screw the buying public. Be alert bimmers!

This is the real 2007MY BMW X3 which was launched in europe back in mid-2006(manufacturing must have also begun that year I assume)...


The X3 of your mom(manufactured in 2004) probably looks like this, a pre-facelifted model.
