While you do need to maintain correct tire pressure (32psi-front & 36psi-rear, per sticker on driver side door) for ride comfort and fuel economy, the real cause of complaints on overall ride comfort can be traced to 2-factors...and these are vehicle pitch and roll.
Pitch is the car's front and rear up and down movement. While roll is the car's left to right, side to side movement. Pitch and roll are very noticeable on AUV's and SUV's because of the higher ride height and shorter wheelbase as compared to sedans.
Now, the Avanza having a higher ride height and a short wheelbase, you would normally expect a bouncier ride. This true even for Fortuners, Innovas, Adventure, Crosswind,etc..
I used to own a Mits Adventure GLS Sport before and it is much more bouncier that the Avanza.
The important thing is to understand the limitations of your vehicle and drive within these...i.e. don't drive it at 50kph on a bumpy road...it was not designed for that.
