as the name implies, strip to metal means alisin lahat ng paint primer etc hanggang lumabas ang metal, while wash over is papatungan lang yun existing paint mo.

but a lot of oldtimers believes na mas masama magpa strip to metal unless bulok na talaga kasi mas maganda pa rin ang primer na ginawa ng factory

    * shadow, maraming salamat po sir sa quick reply nyo. kasi recently, nagpa wash over po ako. strip to metal ang hood, roof and trunk. in short, inistrip tapos nilagyan ng primer na urethane, niliha tapos masilya. yung sides naman po e walang tama kaya di na ini-strip. niliha lang, apply masilya sa mga uneven portions tapos spray na ng based paint (acrylic) (of course he observes curing period for every procedure). dapat po bang lagyan ng primer yung sa sides ko bago base paint para mas maganda ang kapit ng wash over paint? plano po ng pintor acrylic ang base paint (acrylic din kasi ang paint ng car ko) tapos ang finishing is urethane. ano po ang magiging problema kung sakaling meron. please help din po mga tsikoters, need your inputs badly... kasi po as of now pina-stop ko po ang work...

mga papa pa-ride na rin, i hope this is not an OT, pacensya na po.

ano po ang masasabi nyo with regards to using acrylic vs. urethane paints? mas tatagal po ba ang isa dito over the other? TIA.

sir hakkinen, as far as i know mas durable ang urethane matagal din po ang preparation and of course mahal vs acrylic.

sir joey, i think number 1 consideration is the cost plus the hassle in the documentation: clearance, affidavit, stencil, etc...
