Napansin lang ng brother in law ko this afternoon and he brought it to my attention. Some of them malalaki sa iba.

I was aghast talaga dahil inaalagaan ko ang kotse. Tapos ang dami na pino na gasgas. Para bang niliha lightly ang lower panel doors to produce those fine scratches.

Can anyone help me on this one? Do I need to go to a shop? Or but a rubber compound instead and hit it. I own a metallic silver toyota yaris.

    TIA.

after waxing mawala yan pero malamang pag nag wear off na ang wax babalik ang scratches...better to have it buffed out professionaly..

Waxing does NOT remove scratches... It never does and was never created to do so.

Depending on the severity of the scratch, it can:

    a) Be made less visible by a consumer grade scratch remover/polish by rounding off the edges of the scratch.
    b) Buffed/polished off with a pro-grade polish or compound with the appropriate combination of pads and techniques.

    No it won't.

Colorsticks only work on NON CLEARCOATED paint, and in addition, it only masks the scratch until it washes off eventually.

Almost all cars from early 90s are clear coated. Some paints have clearcoats pre-mixed into the pigment but they're still clear coated paint.

Usually tagged as single or double-coated paint

As with all scratch removers go with the mildest first, then use more aggressive compounds if it doesn't buff off. I would highly recommend Meguiar's Scratch X as a first step. If this does not help, use it once more but with more force. If this still does not take the scratches out, go with a mild rubbing compound.

Just be careful with the terms waxing because waxing purely refers to the application of protective waxes (natural or polymer based) that has no abrasive properties, only protective. It covers it in some sort of "sun tan lotion" kumbaga, to protect the paint.

Swirl or scratch removers are fine abrasives, a bit like lotion with very, very fine sandpaper quality that you will not feel with your fingers, but will work on the paint. The key is to rub them in firmly, with good pressure. When you do this, you eliminate a bit of the top coat of paint to "even off" the paint where the scratch existed. It eliminates scratches by smoothing out the edges of the scratch at the microscopic level, making it disappear that way.

i'd recommend this too. i used this on our pearl white mica civic and i was mighty relieved and satisfied. a little application of Meguiar's Scratch X plus a lot of elbow grease did wonders for the affected portions of the paint. the only hitch though is its relatively steep price, but of course, it paid itself off in the end, making the cost well worth its price

But upon closer inspection, nandun pa rin halos ang 60 - 70 percent of the scratches. So tama nga ang sabi ni sir theveed that it would not remove the scratches per se.

Now with buffing, magkano kaya to if I go to the shops. And how much is that scratch X by meguire?

    Salamat mga bro.

Fine "gasgas" on my lower door panels
