I'll be moving to Manila from LA in about a month, and I was wondering what stuff I'll need to bring over and what stuff I can find there. I'm talking polishes, wax, soap, mf towels, and porter cables/pads, clay. If you could also mention what brands are available, that would be great!

almost all are available here but the prices vary depending on seller. if you plan to sell it maybe you should look for possible buyers muna before bringing anything.

We moved here almost 3yrs ago from the states also. Everything can be found here. Most hardware stores here at the mall have a LARGE selection of car products. I've never had problems with finding what I need. I use 3M High gloss shine wax, sometimes turtle wax here. Everything you described, they have here. If you have anything that needs to be custom..like a buffer machine's custom fit cloth, you might want to stock up on that, they might not have that here. Other than that, you can find what you need here.

Some products not readily available here are: Klasse, P21s, S100, Adams and Porter Cable but since this is 110v you will need a transformer for it to work.

you don't need a transformer...a cheaper option is to connect only ONE live wire and then the other wire connect it to a ground (a metal post that is connected sa lupa)...usually yung mga pldt phones have this ground.

    All MEGUIARS
    All mothers PRODUCT (mothers clay)
Calif Car Duster & water blade

A 30-45 minute drive south of LA will lead you to Irvine, Meguiar's headquarters is right there. You'll have all you'll need

Autozone also has cheap stuff. Think of it this way, they export the stuff to Manila, mark it up dahil imported items yon, and sell them there at a higher price. Here you can get them much, much cheaper.

    very true.

one of the reasons why Megs is a bit overpriced here.
pero teka, bakit ang mura naman ng Mom's? hmm...
anyway, aside from those 2 and TW, meron namang Eagle One, poorboys and adam's dito. yung ibang brands im not so sure if they're available unless sourced sa gray market though.

here's a partial list of what you may opt to get. hope this helps.
    1. MF's
    2. Zaino, Klasse
    3. S100
    4. 220V counterpart ng PC (maybe DeWalt, Makita or Bosch)
    5. other polishes that you may prefer

Good stuff. How much do MF towels run for over there? I have to weigh the benefits of hauling dozen packs over vs. saving money.

Glad to hear you have clays and Lake Country pads. I don't personally use Mothers, but clay is clay. I DO use CCS pads, so that's a plus (BTW, roughly how much do they go for?). It's kind of weird that they don't sell porter cables, but they do sell the pads...

I'm a big Poorboy's fan, so I think I'll be stocking up on that. Do they sell quick detailer solution over there? And what high quality car shampoo do you guys use?

MF towels are in all shapes and sizes. $5 gives you a pack of 5, basically $1 per towel. Sometimes you can get more from other stores, I haven't really looked that much yet. I'm sure mas mura dyan, but like I said, if you're going for the stuff that are based here, dito ka na kumuha.

Quick detailer, in gallons or what, are all here. The Meguiar's HQ sells them, I think if you buy them in loads you could get a discount too. Visit their online site www.meguiarsonline.com see if there are new deals.

No idea on pads, I use elbow grease...but applicator pads you mean? Same as it is there, mga $5/pack of 4 for the branded Meguiar's, of course cheaper for others.

Are you seriously filling a whole box full of detailing items only? That's quite a long list. I say just get what you need, marami ditong mura lang if you know where to look.

When you're here daan ka sa Super Auto Bacs on Beach Blvd...

I live in LA. I know how much stuff costs here (and online). I was more interested in how much stuff costs in Manila, and what I should buy before making the move.

    ok

the official retailer of mothers here in PI also sells PC, when i inquire about it, the unit cost roughly 9+++k, if set (LC pads, mothers power products) 14+++k cant remember the exact detail, for MAKITA and DeWalt, i dont know how much they cost here, as for the Poorboys, i asked them for the price of their SSR, they replied 1,500 pesos, i cant also remember what ounce it is, i did not buy it because just the product name says "Poorboys" coz im indeed a poorboy but i would really love to try that SSR (i have a black car)

    ok on MFs

microtex plush - good for cleaning, drying = 199.75 pesos (1pc only)
other type of MF under microtex is ultra plush = P249.75 (1pc only)
also microtex waffle weave = P850 (1pc only)

we also have here the 3M MACS kind of MF, it cost a little higher than the microtex

i have roamed around here and checked different department stores to check if they offer any kind of MF towels, lucky me i found one, it cost only P100, size of a bath towel, great for buffing off wax

    my wishlist:

if you could be so kind, a little SSR would do or the klasse twins, and also can you PM me on how much you could get a PC there so that i could decide if i'll buy the B&D WP900, tnx ima Poorboys World

I'd stock Zaino (zaio, clear seal, z2pro), or Jeff's Werkstatt, foam applicators

Wash items such as sheepskin mitts, the shmitt (love it), grit guard

Optimum and Menzerna polishes Good stuff.

Stock up on the LC CSS pads Last time I heard, MOMSPH will be bringing a batch over. The LCVC 8" pads are around P900. IIRC the 6" flat ones go for P600. (?)

And quality towels definitely. I like the Target vroom ones better than the microtex that's available here but I still prefer Pakshak and Excel.

Meguiar's stuff that are available OTC.. doesn't go below P500

They do sell Poorboy's QD's, both the Spray and Wipe and Spray and Gloss. I think the 16oz bottle goes for P500+, but you'd have to get them at their outlets.

As for the shampoo, syempre Big Bert's

OT: you obviously missed the whole "PI" thread.

Factor in 55 bucks for the "Balikbayan" box, unless you plan to put them in your luggage. Baka sitahin ka pa sa dami ng dala mo.
