from carlocaraddict: can insecticides damage your car's paint?

can it be corrosive?

my parents arrived last thursday from the province and the crv was so dirty. I didnt have the time to clean it because i arrive home before dinner and of course, am dead tired from work. Just a while ago, after drying the hood, i discovered something which i thought was tree saps. Kinapa ako pero malambot, tapos may sumamang red paint and nakita ko yung parang masilya! though maliit lang pero freaky. Akala ko tree sap pero hindi!

Wala pa yan last week kasi i usually inspect the panels before waxing.

damn! fear ko talaga ito. I asked my parents kung nagspray ng insecticides sa mga puno dun pero sagot nila hindi daw kasi ulan daw dun sa prov.

I admit sobrang freaky ako pagdating sa ganyan kasi sobrang inaalagaan ko yung paint ng cars namin. Am planning to bring it to bb one of these days. Nakakainis kasi sa hood pa, mabuti pa sana kung sa roof yun.

This also happened to the front fender of our EG Civic. I dont know what stuff got dripped onto it, but it has the corrosive effect of acid. I can see the different layers of paint until the grayish layer.

baka naman naiputan ng ibon tapos di agad napahid, nakakatanggal talaga ito ng clearcoat ng paint.

actually, insecticides which are waterbased don't have that paint damaging properties. in fact, even kerosene based insectides dont. afaik, only solutions which have solvents do affect car paints.

tanong mo erpats/ermats mo kung ano nilagay nila.

meron din namang ibang forms of matter which have paint effects like tree saps, *** ng ibon, etc.

in fact dun sa dating oto ko, natuluan lang ng isang katiting na tree sap, naubos yung paint....

Sorry to say, but if the chemical goes thru the clear coat and paint the detailer can't do anything about it.Probably he can do a touch up if it's small.

Yun din sabi ko kay Carlo when he called me up yesterday sa shop...

First kutob ko was bat droppings... highly acidic kasi, but sabi ni Carlo the car was indoor lang since the last wash.

In addition sa gitna ng hood halos yung spot, so medyo ruled out ang brakefluid or something na accidental drip kasi sigurado may smaller drips yun sa gilid.

hmm hard to say pero kung indoor yung auto, agree ako na hindi pwedeng tree sap or droppings.. mukhang house-hold chemical ang nakadale nga dyan.
