December 10th, 2002 10:19 PM #1mga detailing gurus, I need your help.
I have just bought a meguires step 1 (cleaner). How do I use this properly? Damp cloth po ba? Ano pang preparation ang dapat kong gawin?
I have road tars and dried insect marks....I plan the car shampoo and water to remove the insects and good old diesel fuel for the road tars. Tama po ba ito?
Is the claybar necessary pa BEFORE the step 1 o should it be AFTER the step 1 application?
Should I still buy the step 2 (polish)?
Can I do it by hand na lang o would a buffer machine (orbital buffer ba yun??) do a better job?
As for the step 3 (waxing)....I will have to stick to my SIMONZ (cake type) carnuba wax... okay ba ito? Is there anyway that I can use to solubilize this wax (perhaps isopropyl alcohol or water??)
Pasensya na sa mga tanong, newbee lang kasi ako sa detailing....its been a 1 year and half na bago makakatikim ng total detail ang pick-up ko....e since P3,000 mahigit ang aabutin....I decided to DIY na lang kasi mukhang cheaper ... plus the fun and sweat na rin (which is an excercise that my body would sincerely appreciate)....Plus if I do a good job....I will have enough "chemicals" and "equipment" to do it all over again whenever I need to....
Thanks na marami sa inyong mga reply.

December 11th, 2002 12:09 PM #2hello,
Meguirs step 1: i dont think you need a damp cloth for this one. not sure though. just follow the instructions. ako i use a foam pad tapos rub mo lang sa paint hanggang parang nawawala na yung product. you dont need force when doing this. light pahid lang. use only small amounts.
claying: claying is good kasi tanggal talaga yung mga stubborn dirt sa paint. after claying, pwede ka na siguro na hindi mag step 1. try mo muna mag clay before step 1.
step 2: kung dark colored car mo, its nice na mag polish ka. may difference talaga. orbital buffer will make your life easier. pero pwede din by hand
step 3: make sure you wax it para maseal yung smooth and clean surface na ginawa ng step 1 and 2.

December 15th, 2002 03:54 PM #5thanks sa replies,
Hinimas ko kanina, hindi na "glass" and smoothness...meron na sigurong maliliit na road tars...I'll check out the 3M brand na tar remover...di ba talaga pede ang diesel fuel na lang???
After removing tars, I car shampoo ko uli, then clay, then Meguiar's step 1, then Meguiar's step 2, and finally, simonz carnuba wax. Tama po ba ito?
Haha well it's been "coming" since 2021 with no given launch date The fact that they're not...
