actually mazdamazda, the thread already veered towards a resentment to air fresheners from the first page onwards.. hehe... almost all air fresheners do more harm than good coz you're masking odors instead of eliminating it in the first place... kinda like putting on more cologne instead of taking a bath kinda thing...

mas mainam pa nga yata ionizer na lang gamitin ko...

ionizers work by imparting a negative charge to airbore particles. these particles will then bond with positively charged particles until they are heavy enough to fall to the ground, thus eliminating airborne odors.

natural air is colorless and odorless. basically, what we smell is a suspension of particulates and salts (dissolved in water) -- aka. pawis!.

OT: solvents cause the "new car" scent? eh di at one point puro pala tayo solvent boys

People in the auto industry say that within a few years ,new car smell may be a thing of the past. The reason is that activist groups are beginning to question exactly what it is that makes a new-car aroma so distinctive. The consensus is that it is the fumes given off by plastics, coatings, and glues used in the assembly process. The largest constituent of the fumes is thought to come from the plastics in car interiors. Plastics normally are made with organic compounds that are volatile, and for a long while after the car is built, these compunds outgas into the car interior, especially on hot days. Experts say volatile organics are not a healthy thing to inhale.
