Help po mga car gurus, do I have to glass coat a brand new car?
There are so many inclusions which I don't think I need since it will be fresh out of the dealer.
Also, can you recommend a fairly priced yet quality shop?
Thank you so much!![]()
Thank you so much po sa replies.
I guess I'll stick to wax for now - can you recommend a brand or type of wax best for black cars?
..and how often should you do it like every after car wash po ba?
Again many thanks gurus! First time owner / driver po ako![]()
Glass Coating is the new Undercoat / Rust Proofing scheme ...
First time drivers and those who don't have dedicated parking slots at home and work don't need this ... You'll eventually have dings, scratches and dents on your vehicle ...
An alternative to expensive glass coating offered by your dealer would be ceramic coating by a reputable auto detailing shop like Technical Details. The detailing shop can also inspect the quality of your new car's paint, e.g. whether it got thinner due to irresponsible car waxing/polishing by the dealer, if paint correction is needed (some new cars do need it surprisingly). I highly recommend you bring your new car to a detailing shop asap. Don't let the car dealer ruin your car's paint by letting them wash and polish your brand new car.
Ceramic coating is just like applying wax to your car's paint, providing a more durable protection against acid rain, tree saps and other stuff than can easily damage the car's paint. Be wary of claims that ceramic coating can provide protection against paint chips, dings and scratches. It won't (clear bra can).
Ceramic coating can last up to two years for a single layer application. You still need to wash your car regularly and remove rubbish like tree sap and bird droppings to keep the coating from deteriorating.
The least expensive option would be to regularly wax your car and wash it properly.
Thanks again Boss Jo and Walter!
I want to try Ceramic coating but there are so many freebies which I think I don't need.
I inquired at Shimmer and Shield with a price of 10.5k - worth it po ba?
Clear bra is out of budget![]()
I would go for Meguiar's ultimate paste wax or Collinite Insulator Wax 845.

How often? That would depend on the environment your car is exposed to and the durability of the wax. During the rainy season you may have to apply wax every month. During summer just once.
There's a newbie guide for cleaning and waxing. It's a good read, highly recommended:

If you're still interested with ceramic coating here's a nice youtube vid. There's a lot of prepping on the car's paint before applying the ceramic coating (and that's why it's important to have your car coated by a quality auto detailing shop):

#3. What’s a Ceramic Coating’s limitations?
Ceramic coating is not a miracle product that will solve any and every car paint problem.
For instance, it will not eliminate the need to wash a car. Even if you fork out for it, regular and proper car washing is still needed to prevent things like water spotting. Although water does bead on the surface, rain water is rarely clean and contains minerals or even dirt particles. This means that water that evaporates on the vehicle’s surface (even if treated with ceramic coating) can still be susceptible to visible spots.
However, the most exaggerated quality of ceramic coating probably has to do with its resistance to scratches, swirl marks, and rock chips. Though some small scratches may be repelled, a coated vehicle will not be completely immune to heavier scratches (such as vandalism) or rock chips. Furthermore, improper car washing techniques can still create swirl marks.
I'm planning to avail coating for my new car pero yung package pala includes removing of scratches/detailing.
Is it better na wait nalang ako after a year(para maipon yung gasgas) para sulit siya?![]()
