You can try heating with a heat gun or hair dryer at the area where the glue is located. This will soften the glue. Also apply come "cleaning cream" (DIY or hardware stores) to help remove the glue. Use a soft cloth rag to rub the area one small piece at a time until you get the entire area clean.
BTW, your use of acetone, rubbing compound, thinner, etc could have damaged the paint already.
