The original Grit guard was over my budget so I made one that would fit my budget.

Id like to share the DIY Gritguard that I made. All it took was a rubber mat, a utility knife, and 5 minutes. Cost of the rubber mat was 79.95/pc.

Hope it works. Ill post the photos of the accumulated grit after washing my car.

For anyone who've done this, is it as effective as the original design of the grit guard?

    Rubber Mat - cost P79.95/pc

Measured the diameter of the bottom of the bucket. Then cut the mat into a circle

side view of the mat, IMHO, this is quite thin so i used what remained of the mat and placed it at the bottom

Used the remaining pieces from the original mat

2 layers - just to be sure

    Nice idea man!

From the cross section, I think the mat height, although thin, is good enough as the bottom side acts as baffles from stirring up the water below it. I do suggest a clear pail rather than the red one you have to see how effective your grit guard is.

Nice DIY! Pwede din kaya yung casing ng electric fan or yung plastic na pang takip ng ulam? Kaso need ng mas malaking bucket.

Thanks for sharing! This is great.

By the way, does having a grit guard eliminate the need to use the two bucket method?

To be on the safe side, I still use 2 buckets with gritguards on both buckets.
