Hello. I read somewhere that you could retrofit a KP600 to use the 3M waffle pads for wax application.

Im very dissatisfied with the applicator pads which came with my polisher.

My question is, where to get the velcro? Im aware that you can get these velcro strips at national bookstore, but i dont really want just velcro strips. I want to get the circular velcro hook thingie which covers the whole contact are. is this locally available and where? Or where can i get big pieces of velcro?

    TIA :beard:

That backup pad (05718) won't work with the KP600. That's designed for rotary polishers like the Makita 9227C and other rotaries that share the same spindle size. People usually buy these backup pads pag yung rotary nila ay walang kasamang velcro backing pad (like the B&D rotaries). Si theveed though, baka magamit niya yan.

There isn't really an advantage to attaching a whole circular sheet of velcro as opposed to just attaching it as strips. Of course, it looks cleaner that way, pero just as long as the polishing pad attaches firmly and does not fly off, you're all set.

irmscher:: thanks for the reply dude! i just didnt feel comfy enough with the hook strips, kinda looks flimsy if you think of it. You own a KP600, if i may ask?

I own a KP600 and I've actually retrofitted it to accept the 3M waffles. The red velcro strips available in the bookstores will do the job just fine. If you wnt to further secure the velcro strips to the rubber backing, you can spray it with some 3M adhesive.

bacon:: how many strips did you use (ballpark estimate)? So i assume i have to cover as much of the backing pad area as possible? TIA.

Oh, and more info please on the 3m Adhesive you used. :D

    Greatly appreciated! :D

you can buy good velcro in any textile shop in the malls, they have more sizes to choose from. The KP600 can't use a backing pad since it doesn't have a threaded attachment.

    hi guys,

napapagod na ako sa hand waxing, so i think it's time to invest on more tools to save time..

i am now planning to buy the Black and Decker KP600 Orbital Buffer, it is now priced 2,995 sa Ace hardware, is this a good buy?

meron bang additional pads/velcro na mabibili for this KP600, where and how much? meron ba sa bigberts?

meron kami bosch na grinder (variable speed), can i convert this as polisher?

    thanks

ako two strip lang gamit ko sa 3M waffle pad ko.

dinikit ko lang sya nang epoxy.

Pero sa katagalan papalitan mo din yung velcro.

Nagsession detail na kami ni Weapon X and we are both satisfied.

    Eto ang mga ginawa namin.

    3M scratch remover
wax cleaner - Zymol / Penzoil
    3M imperial Hand Glaze
    3M liquid wax

next stop kasama na clay and some stuff gamit and BnD

revoGSX: Ok na yan, bought mine from a friend for around 2400, that was last year. Get some velcro strips from ace, idikit mo lang sa likot ng rubber backing plate your all set. Hanap ka na lang ng mga pads, may nagbebenta ata sa pinas detailing. Try emailing reno*vasia.com
