Detailing gurus,
How does the Microtex Washmitt (Php339 a piece) compare in terms of performance with Mothers, SM Arnolds and Meguiars Washmitt? I'm about to buy 2 washmitts and I'm still undecided whether to get which one. Thanks.

July 30th, 2010 03:38 AM #105Microtex washmitt is only 330 if im not mistaken
microtex washmitt is MF chenille washmitt while mothers, meguiars and SM arnolds are lambswool, as with lambswool i find it that they deteriorate faster especially if you run over sharp surfaces like emblems and such, lambswool because of its semi rough nature also can't be used with pressure because it might scour the paint unlike some chenille washmiits, overall if really depends on the person using it, i did a comparison before using a MF chenille washmitt (non Microtex ) and lambswool and just to check which one is cleaner i wiped the paint with pressure using a chamois, and the part where i used lambswool was a lot dirtier since the chamois turned dark on some spots and the MF chenille washmitts were cleaner, i then washed the panel again using lambswool but this time with pressure and it actually scoured the paint and induced scratches, i said bottomline it depends on the person using it because our mentor actually uses a lambswool washmitt and he can even put pressure to the paint without scouring it but then again his lambswool washmitt was made from the US thats all natural not mothers, megs and Sm arnolds

July 30th, 2010 03:39 AM #106the main difference lies on the sharpness of the reflections and the halos from the sun, you might also need to look an a certain flatter angle to see the difference although most of the times its very very hard to differentiate, same way as how i actually find 915 to be just at part with Souveran sometimes

July 30th, 2010 10:49 AM #108+1 ...same here in Baguio, washover (hilamos) will cost 2500-3500 per panel depende sa paint...strip to metal + P1K ...pero sa mga kilalalang shops yan...Dito kasi sa Baguio, madaming professional painters dito na gumawa na ng sarili nilang shops, mas mura yet yung result is same...nagpa-washover ako ng front and rear bumpers, plus retouch ng tailgate...P4500 lang binayaran ko (may guarantee pa)..in short you need not go sa mga mamahaling paintshops...you just need the right person (with the right equipment) to do it...

July 30th, 2010 10:56 AM #109And this is very important, kapag strip to metal make sure they use paint stripper, NOT blowtorch (mas madali kasi ito) ...using blowtorch to strip paint will cause the metal to lose its anti-rust properties, maski anong tino ng paintjob sigurado ko lolobo ang paint niyan pagtagal dahil sa kalawang sa loob maski may anti-rust primer pa yan...
