August 26th, 2005 05:43 PM #1082When I wash with car shampoo, the waxes also wash off right?
I can't sustain doing wash and wax each time so I'm planning to limit washing with shampoo and waxing once a month. In between can I just wash with water? And for those lazy days light dusting with the red or violet MF?

Hi RafRaf, it would depend on the type of shampoo, wax and your washing method.
Normally, most proper car shampoos would only diminish your wax a little bit. Some waxes/sealants could withstand a lot of washings. Detergents meant for cleaning plates or clothes and some poorly made car shampoos can can remove wax. AFAIK car shampoos from mainstream names such as Meguiars, Mothers, Eagle One, 3M, and even polyglaze (I think) are wax/sealant safe meaning the remove just a tiny bit of the wax.
I would suggest washing at least once a week. You can use the red or green (not violet) microtex to remove light dust but I think a car duster would be more suitable. For waxes, some protect your paint for a week, others can protect up to a few months.

If you're tamad, just use Eagle One's Wax As U Dry everytime you wash. I recommend 2x a week pag tagulan, minimum.
My damn white paint gets so dirty after a week of no wash...

RafRaf: get a good car shampoo. wag yung wash / wax combo.. can't go wrong with that. try to mix some shampoo whenever you wash.. to add some lubricity in lifting off the dirt.. ang nakakatanggal ng wax yung mga matatapang na wash and this, in my IMO, is often not suitable for cars and should be used with much caution.

RafRaf: Get a gallon of BigBerts car shampoo... specially formulated for your cars paint, or any other pure car shampoo wag yung may halong wax. You can wax once a month, suplement it with some Quick Detailing and WAUD just like what theveed said.
Dehadista: Wala din ako for the next few weekends, maybe we can sched this EB thing in October.
