If ala pa, what do you think of this schedule? May kulang?

    ITEMS/TASKS PERIOD

California Dusting (in between washing) --- Daily
Car Wash and Shampoo --- Weekly
Detailing Spray (in between waxing) --- Weekly
Vacuum and Interior (minor) Cleaning --- Monthly
    Underwash --- yearly
    Exterior Detailing --- Yearly
    Engine Detailing --- Yearly
    Interior Detailing --- Yearly

Tama ba yong interior detailing o nasyado matagal? I figure that I don't open the windows often anyway.

    Comment naman detailing gurus tnx.

Actually pwede na yan, just wipe the engine down every car wash. Ditto with interior, make vacuuming more frequent.

    theveed,

i just bought a new mits.adv, i do not know much about detailing, but i do always maintain my rig clean. I usually use armour all for vinyl and rubber and turtle wax for the painting. is there any harm if i used it twice a month for its maintenance.

    appreciated your expertise advise.

    Theveed,

Good day sir! I am a newbie in detailing. I just want to confirm some articles I've read:

    1. Megs Ultimate Polish - What kind of waxes / sealants can I use as a LSP after applying UP?

    2. What are the things to know when choosing polishing products, and what sealants/waxes go well with them?

    3. Are Megs NXT2.0 Wax and EO Nano Wax sealants?

    4. Is there any benefit in applying a pure carnuaba wax over a sealant? If yes, are no.915 and NXT compatible? And

    5. No. 915 + Megs UP, does this make a good or bad combo?

Thank you sir in advance. Hoping for your reply soon

    1) you can put any wax of your choice... I'd recommend Optimum Car Wax, Collinite waxes, and Microtex Nanoglos.

    2) When choosing polishing products, you have three general types... 1) compounds 2) polishes and 3) finishing polishes
-compounds abrade the clearcoat most extensively, and have the most correcting power... but as previously mentioned, they should be used conservatively since judicious use of compounds WILL destroy your clearcoat. These will leave buffer swirls that have to be corrected with polishes
-polishes and finishing polishes are finer abrasive products that are used to improve the finish of the paint after compounding.
-any wax or sealant can be used after polishing. just depends on your choice.
    3) NXT 2.0 is a synthetic wax, but is not a sealant. EO is also a synthetic wax (not a sealant)
    4) yes. a pure carnauba wax over the sealant will 1) add another layer of protection to the paint 2) prolong sealant life, and 3) usually it impoves the overall finish of the paint
not sure about compatibility of 915 (is this collinite?) and NXT 2.0. To be sure, apply them 8 hours apart to let the first product applied cure (after which you can layer another wax)
    5) Megs UP will correct the defects and collinite 915 will give you an amazing shine. it's a good combo. But use UP sparingly - it's still an abrasive. for maintenance, you're better off with a sealant (or glaze) + wax combo.

Thank you sir scharnhorst for answering my questions! I appreciate it. But based on your answer, now I'm quite unsure which are considered sealants. Is Microtex Nano Sil a Sealant?

Also, I would like to take this opportunity to ask about detailing procedures. I've never done it before, but I am planning to do it in this order (I based some of these steps on the answers you gave me):

    Wash & Dry -> Clay -> Paint corrections/polishing -> Sealer -> Synthetic Wax -> Pure Carnuaba Wax(2nd coat after 8hours)

Did I get it right? Suggestions are deeply appreciated

Nanosil is a blur. it has the properties of both a sealant and a glaze... it fills swirls better than usual glazes (especially when machine applied), and at the same time, is as tough as a usual wax. but it's best used in conjunction with a wax on top of it.

your regimen is good, but I think the synthetic wax+carnauba wax is an overkill. hehe. best to use just one, then keep using booster waxes and QDs to keep the wax alive.

note that you have to wait 24 hours before layering anything over a sealant (in this aspect, nanosil is different as you can layer a wax immediately after)

Sirs, ano ba ang magandang maintenance regimen para sa mga nag-avail ng Optiguard para ma-maintain yung kintab nung kotse in between the 3-month interval ng BB? Ano yung mga kailangan kong bilhin na products (from the applicator to the wax itself)? TIA.

Are you planning on applying via rotary or via DA (random orbital dual action)? It's not really recommended that you apply waxes via rotary - you run the risk of creating marring (holograms), even with a non-abrasive product and a finishing pad. For a wax or sealant application, you want to use a non-abrasive (finishing) pad - something like Lake Country's black/grey/blue/red pad or Meguiar's black pad will work.

How much are you planning on spending? The main thing in any maintenance regimen is proper washing technique - two-bucket method, the correct tools and chemicals, etc (this is outlined in the Tamang OC thread, which I see you've visited already). Now for something to apply on the paint, again it depends on your budget. You can get NanoGlos OTC for around 300 (I think), and a three- or four-pack of foam applicators for about 90 pesos. You'll probably have to apply NanoGlos every week or two though, as it isn't very durable. Unfortunately, there isn't much available OTC that'll do all that better - you'll have to step up to something like Optimum Car Wax, Optimum Opti-Seal, Collinite or the Klasse/Carlack twins to get products with better durability.

Thanks for the reply umi001! Tama ba ang pagkaintindi ko na hindi available over the counter ang Optimum products like OCW? So I guess NanoGlos and NanoSliq na lang ang gagamitin ko. May nabasa rin ako tungkol sa Megiuar's NXT. Saan siya papasok -- after I apply the NanoGlos or after the NanoSliq? Do I still need to buy foam applicators to apply these? Anong product (brand) ang magandang pang buff?

Follow-up question: Kailangan ko pa rin bang bumili ng clay kit kahit na quarterly ko na siya dadalhin sa Big Bert's? Gaano kadalas ba dapat mag clay?

    TIA.

Sorry, not quite getting the question - are you looking for an applicator to apply wax by hand, or to apply wax by machine? Or are you looking for a pad to remove wax? For hand application, a standard foam applicator is fine - the cheap 3 for 90 pesos available is Ace or Blade is ok. For machine, buffing pads would be as I mentioned earlier. For wax removal, you generally remove using an MF by hand, not a machine, as the machine action could remove too much of your newly applied wax layer.

If you're getting NXT, you'd use it in place of NanoGlos. However, NXT might not be the best idea - it has light cleaners that could degrade the layer of sealant that Big Bert's has applied. Hmmm, didn't consider that - NanoGlos might not be the best idea either, for the same reason. Best OTC option would be to get a pure carnauba, such as Mother's pure carnauba wax or Meguiar's Deep Crystal Carnauba wax. Still, for the price of these options, I'd seriously consider getting Collinite 845 or 476 - it's not much more expensive, and you'll get far more durability out of it (and therefore will need to apply less often). I believe Big Bert's sells 845...

You don't want to be claying during the quarterly intervals, as claying will strip your wax/sealant.
