guys i noticed the paint in my engine hood and roof look dull and like spots faded (cloudy/chalky), i tried to wax it but its still the same. during washing it seems good but when it dry out the dull color shows. can it be fix with a detailing job or is it time to paint wash over?

Posting some pictures may others in giving you advice. If it's clearcoat failure, repaint. If it's just oxidation, detail. My .02

A few more details would help How old is the car, and what brand and model? What you described could be oxidazation of single-stage paint from older cars, or clearcoat failure of a newer car's paint job. Also, what sort of maintenance, if any, has the car's paint seen? As brawler has said, pictures would also allow people to give more meaningfulk advice

test a 6"x 6" area by using a scratch remover. you'll have to rub briskly for some time til the liquid polish clears
    if
you can get that area to shine without your rag turning red, which is the color of your car
    then
polish the area to remedy the problem.
    then
    wax it.
    else
you may have to bring it to the body shop. try multiple layers to your satisfaction

i commend you for the zoomed out pic. if you capture mostly the part where the sun hit, you got a sun shot, which shows how perfectly polished a surface really is.

did you find out if cars like yours have the same problem in general? maybe there's a lot of heat build up under that area of the hood

thanks sir, i guess this is caused by my unshaded parking at work and the environment (port area).

detail or repaint
