is laundry soap in bar form okay or does it leave residue on the MF towel as much as powder detergent does?

hat's what i noticed when i washed the MF towel with a detergent bar/powder. It leaves a rough texture that will ruin the car's finish. At the same time, as this will be habitual, the purpose of a MF towel will no longer serve its purpose. You will notice the difference in a short time, could not absorb water well and could not easily dry the car when you wipe it.

I use mild soap, perla will work fine, too.

Soak with Joy or some other dishwashing liquid (they work well in removing wax and similar residue from the towels), then finish up with Perla to maintain the softness of the cloth.

i currently use perla. so this won't leave anything on the MF towel that can harm or scratch the paint finish?

The microfibers might actually melt if it's too hot, which means that they can scratch the paint - same reason you shouldn't wash them in hot (not warm) water.
