All our vehicles are ceramic coated... later, naiisip ko if PPF is better

PPF is technically a plastic cover - so sya ang magkakaroon ng swirl marks instead of the car, in the end - may swirl marks pa din
Pansin ko na common gasgas ng daily drivers is sa parking (dings) and grocery carts. if naka PPF ako, di ba matutuklap yun kung madiin yung grocery cart?

Positive lang na nakikita ko is when I remove the PPF - 5 years later, I guess parang bago yung paint ng car/motorcycle ko.
Ceramic - 5 years later - yun na yun not unless I have the car color corrected - shop pa din naman gagawa since di ko naman pwede i-DIY yun

Naka package pala iyan kasama Stec tint. $$$ pa rin. Sabi ko nga sa kanya, iyong price puwede na sa ilang hilamos. Ayaw ko din iyong daming babaklasin sa bnew.

Ang nakikitang kong positive ng PPF is if the time comes to sell your car, you can remove the PPF.
But cons is durable ba talaga yan? If may dings as you said, matutuklap dapat and hindi siya maganda tingnan.

Durable or not ... it's not going to add 100T-200T to your vehicle's resale value ... may be ok for vehicles worth 10M or more ...

Yeah 200k is too much, even for a car worth 2M, let alone 1-1.5M like most econoboxes.

Ceramic coat is 15-35k I think? Should be good enough. You can re-do it every 3-5 years and still be significantly cheaper than PPF.
Or a good washover for 50-75k after 10 years of owning the car.

minsan naiisip ko... how's PPF when it comes to hard water?

may case kasi ako dati halos 1 month (4 car washes, 2x wax) bago completely natanggal yung watermark ng (ceramic coated) car ko

AFAIK it'll stain just like paint would, for some chemicals PPF might fare even worse since it's not as "hard" as a clearcoat.

Xpel PPF Stained after driving on snowy roads | Rivian Forums

It also yellows from sun/UV exposure. Good example here is the factory PPF that Porsche puts in front of the rear wheel which you'll commonly see yellowed and beat up.

have noticed na pababa na ng pababa price ng PPF.

a shop in QC gave me a very tempting quote (dun nagpagawa neighbor ko and his PPF was even cheaper)

    I guess hintay lang konti...

Had my car's ceramic coat when it was a year old... I think I can wait a bit for our Innova.

Not the PPF, it's the mirror housing melting.

Share ko lang na may nabasa akong FB post that the PPF has some parts peeled off.
He requested someone to remove the PPF and have it redone.

Unfortunately, during the process of PPF removal, natuklap yung clear coat.
They have to pay 8-12hrs of labor to remove PPF plus repaint to restore the clear coat.

Buhayin ko ulit itong thread na ito.

by the looks of my schedule and workload (+ planned vacations) this year, around Aug-Sep ko pa maaasikaso Zenix namin (1 year 2 months na sya nun)

And thanks to various PPF ads na nasa FB Feed ko, looks like mag-papa-ceramic na lang ako.

    Few points about Ceramic

    - My wife and I loves the new ceramic shine
    - it still protects the car from "environmental contaminants"
    - no need to remove door handles, emblems (and in some cases) bumper and lights.

And lastly, yes, spending 200K (PPF) will not add 200K value sa car ko

Naisip ko kasi, kahit anong gawin ko, car will still have swirl marks in 2-3 years time, di naman maiiwasan yun. PPF (daw) is self healing, pero no one can tell if ganun pa din sya 2-3 years later (especially for a daily driver).

So once sobra na swirl marks ko and di na kaya itago ng wax, I can always have the car paint corrected. Sa PPF, no choice but to go back to the shop and have the PPF removed.

Big plus na din na Optimum Impressions (same shop na nag-ceramis sa City ko) can finish the job in less than a day!

Resistant naman sa swirl marks and mga ceramic coated kaysa sa wax and sealant.
If ever magka develop na ng swirl marks in time narin for the 2 year maintenance or retouch.
I suggest you get a ceramic package that has free maintenance and recoat for repainted (accident) panels.

For ppf, kalaban lang talaga dyan ay yung yellowing ng ppf in time, but that after 5 years.
Swirl marks sa ppf , treated, corrected similarly as the ceramic coated car.
I dont know with the other shops but my ppf coated pick-up has a ceramic coating on top of the ppf.

There are shops that offers ppf coating only to panels that are vulnerable to gasgas and road chips, like hood, front bumpers, headlights etc, much affordable.

I tried and recommend shimmers and shield for ceramic and autospf for ppf+ceramic coating.

A relative of mine in Canada had his Scion FR-S PPF'd and then had it ceramic coated. He says it's the best protection the car's ever gotten (it better be, tbh).

It cost a pretty penny but the car was his dad's grad gift to him. And his dad passed away early last year. He will never sell that car.

Time will tell if it was all worth it but he says XPEL provides a 10-year warranty against yellowing. He also mentioned that the ceramic coating was absolutely needed for all the salt during winter and for the detritus that remains when the snows melt.
