April 10th, 2004 12:16 AM #1Is it true that bird poop can stain your car? If yes, how do I get rid of the stain? I have stains in my black car and my husband said they were from bird poop, I thought it was something else.

not stain but damage the paint of your car. bird poop is acidic and can eat away the layers of paint on your car in a matter of hours. learned that the hard way.

April 14th, 2004 05:01 PM #3Yup... bird poop does eat through the paint, lalo na kapag naiwanan sa init. Best way is to wipe off a fresh drop as soon as possible! This also holds true with tree sap (plant fluids). Same as bender... I learned it the hard way.

Yup correct sina bender at RDL. It would help if you have some protection ie wax or sealant on your paint. My brother's car suffered the same fate. The paint is scarred due to bird poop while i've had my car bird bombed for days with no visible defect. But its really a case to case basis. Best is to rinse it off the moment na may makita kang bird poop.

ako i was travelling in taft when suddenly itong mga wet paint ng lrt tumulo sa hood ko, had it waxed pero may stain, ginawa ng mequires binuff, ayun tanggal, kaso hindi pantay na color since hindi binuff buong car, so i guess i need 2 step detailing next time around

Yup, bird poo can eat through even the best combinations of sealants and waxes so habang "sariwa" pa yung poo, quickly wipe it out kahit tissue lang yan, I'd rather have swirls caused by the tissue paper instead of poo-eaten clearcoat. Kapag naman tuyo na yung poop, grab an MF towel, then basain mo ng husto yung part na may ipot then cover it with the MF towel. It should soften the poop enough to safely wipe it off the paint without causing a scratch. Kapag tree saps naman, if you regularly park under a tree, "kilalanin" mo yung puno kung umiipot din, if it does, then avoid it at all costs. At school where I park, may spot dun under a tree, solo mo yung parking slot na malapad, yun nga lang ang lakas umipot ng puno. Kawawa pintura. Mas mahirap ang tree saps since most of the time buong kotse mo ang damay, ang liliit pa kala mo umaambon lang.
