Suppose we follow the route the Koreans and Malaysians took in jumpstarting their auto industry? Which was by licensing established designs and evolving from there.

Which vehicle do you think we should license?

I nominate the Toyota Qualis :

its a big boost to the designers here,so they can expand the bounderies of their design,as what ive notice here in the philippines..no matter how good yuor design is,we are still limited to the quantity and availability of the parts used to incorporate in the design of vehicle,we may design concept cars as futuristic and trendy, but we are still stuck to what is available, just like the phuv its design rely on the manufacturers parts,it still looks crude compared to other vehicles as what we see in the roads today of modern design..unlike other countries the auto designers design cars without bounderies,so when approved they can create the parts needed to copy the prototype, here in the philipines ,yuo design a vehicle, but then the carmakers would say to settle for a boxy type coz we are not sure if it will make a huge impact, use only whats available, from doors to windshields and everything common yuo can find in anywhere car parts store ..

This is one of the reason why we need to help the MVPMAP and other proponents of the PHUV. If this vehicle will become very successful, with its reliance on local parts--PHUV manufacturers and the MVPMAP autoparts manufacturers--will definitely gain a certain level of profitability that will give them the capability to improve and expand their design, engineering-- and of course product line.

No need nga sa licensing e. Kaya lang.......

Actually, I wish yung Russian Manufacturer na GAZ ang hingin ng license at i-rebadged e para mas mura keysa European, Japanese.

Ngayon kung talagang alang budget, nandyan pa rin ang Norkis at Francisco Motors e--improve version ng Norkis' minica nodel, legacy first, multicab--Francisco's anfra at a rebadged FIAT vehicle (dating Italcar ng FMC).

ano kaya i-license and re-badge ang old IsuZU Highlander..................

Licensing a design might be a pragmatic way to go, but that would mean the undoing of this forum, which is an outlet for Pinoys who want to be original about autobody design, and maybe to act on it locally.

What we would appreciate is licensing of platforms (aka rolling chassis). Otherwise, there's always the option of reverse engineering. Here's a clip on extreme rev eng'g:

DESIGN is the missing link in the Philippine auto industry.

If we were to license a design?
