The Kariton Klasrums point is - A Less Educated or Mal Educated society will definitely degenerate.

Efren - since coming from the poor class of society himself - knows the need, and his mentor paved the way for him to finish his studies - cumlaude and as a scholar of World Vision. The kariton actually was an evolvement from the Pedicab Klasrum.

Obvious reason says that there is indeed a lack of classrooms compounded by the lack of money by these poor class of society to afford their kids to go to school. The Dumpsite kids would rather go perform solid waste sorting and bring food in the table everyday in order to survive. A Pacquiao will not bring them out of this state. But a Penaflorida's means to empower them thru education - literacy can and is the only way to bring them out of poverty.

If every Pinoy dreams to become a boxer - we will be more poorer than we are now. But if every Pinoy will be educated and lettered - they will become empowered. It's all about empowerment of the masses - thats the bottomline.

I am not tlaking about a revolution- but an evolution of the Pinoy Masses Subconsious Minds.

Marami pa rin sa atin ang mabababaw... madaling humanga sa mga idolo, actor o mga gawa ng banyaga. At dahil ipinaman sa atin ng mga ninuno natin ang kulturang sabong - di maiaalis na tayoy maging panatiko sa ating mga pinapanigang mga manok (in the forms of idols, politicians, boxers, etc.)

I'm sorry to go off topic here - but I am driving the point to what is relevant.

I have been silently advocating UNINFLUENCED DESIGN PRACTICES.

To come up with a really good design - the criteria should be as follows:

1. Originality (without compromising basic safety standards)
2. Practicality (without compromising quality)
3. Availability (or Raw Materials)
4. Cost Efeectiveness
5. Manufacturability
6. Replicability
7. EMPOWERMENT FACTOR

If you look at Efrens Kariton Klarums - it definitely pass the criteria of a good design... which basically made it to the top of CNN awards.

It is under the same light that Pinoys should be making their designs.

Rest Assure - Efren will not allow himself to be idolized by many like what Pacquiao or any other Global Pinoy are doing. I have known this kid since he was still in High School... as a matter of fact - he used to live with us. bilib ako sa batang ito, walang kaarte arte sa katawan... walang kayabangan... pero, maraming natulungan lalo na yung mga batang dumpsite, actually, marami silang ganyan ang attitude sa club 8586. Marami na ring mga engineer ang naproduce ng grupo nile Efren - at Maraming Politico na rin ang gustong maki-ride ng libre sa kanila... sorry na lang sa mga ito.

I wish to add another thing... with regards to CSR, Corporate Social Responsibility -ADs. A Specialist on these ADs slogans gave his advice.... uso kasi ngayon yung corporate ads, Those who wish to do it should have a Good Heart and a Creative Mind. Without one, magiging hilaw lang ang kampanya. (Why am I injecting this?... maybe somebody needs it.)

[SIZE=3]I read that in the last advertising conference in Subic, someone there pointed at the advertising sector's social responsibility to being a tool for societal development and not simply a tool for promoting products sans such social responsibility. Hope this translates into real action on their part.

Appreciate your enlightenment on Penaflorida's kariton advocacy. Guess you're right on reforming the Filipino subconscious mind. The hero worship that is the foundation of the "sabong" mentality as you call it may perhaps be replaced by having enough self-respect and enough belief within these underprivileged Pinoys.

Developing an inner self-respect and self assurance of the ability to be better perhaps is one of the underlying reason that a tri-wheeler can perhaps be key to give those in the class C, D and E a better opinion of themselves as well as renewed hope that they have the capability of improviment to what they are in life.

The loss of hope even in hope itself has been the major factor for the inability of the poor pinoys to striving to lift themselves out of their poverty.

This was discovered in a study done sometime in the '90's o the attitude and personality of the poor in the Philippines.

The tri-wheeler can be that flag of which these guys can have pride and the the sense of achievement of owning such a uniquely Filipino vehicle. This observation of sense of pride can be obviously seen by tricycle owners who have invested so much in their tricycles as to having them equipped with stainless steel bodies and some borloloys and the meticulous care they give their vehicles.

Perhaps if we can come up with a tri-wheeler that is properly designed and at an affordable price and the proper financing assistance for even those of the class E Pinoy's can avail of, perhaps maybe a better alternative to Penaflorida's kariton advocacy as this can be the source of economic empowerment enough for our underprivileged brother Pinoys to avail for themselves some true to goodness proper education.

These comments is not to undermine Penaflorida's advocacy, as already Penaflorida has proven the effectiveness of his idea that is evidently within the criterion of how you have defined the parameters of good designs.

I just hope we can be at par with our own advocacy.
