I'm sure you already checked the coolant to make sure it's topped off, then the thermostat, if they are both ok then maybe just maybe it's your sensor, check and make sure the wires going to the sensor are ok too, the sensor should not be that hard to replace, use a deep socket of the right size.

hello sum1,
your temperature gauge sending unit is that of NTC(negative temperature coefficient material, meaning, as the temperature increases, the resistance decreases or is inversely proportional. the sending unit is a variable resistor. if the wiring were grounded, simulating a low resistance, the gauge will indicate a false high temperature reading. this means two things:1- the wiring is intact or is more than likely intact, 2-that the sending unit is not varying in resistance from both ends of the range, probably needs replacement.
there another possibility though, if the car is 5 years old or older, the dash gauge unit usually gets sticky on its pivots as these are usually made of plastic that has been exposed to sunlight and heat. if this the case, you can remove the instrument cluster and physically move the needle of the gauge to the upper and lower ranges. this should be good for another five years. i would check this first.

Be careful with channels like "China Observer" on YouTube. There is a clear bias in their posts and...
