pongees,
that my dear watson is the blower resistor responsible for varying the blower motor speed. the more resistance you put in the line, the less current goes through the motor thereby reducing blower motor speed. if you connect the motor direct or bypass the resistor, the motor runs at full speed. the reason why it is in the air duct is to cool it off lest the resistor will meltdown

September 9th, 2009 01:32 PM #3thanks jick! Is okay if I replace the resistor block/pack with lower resistor ratings para mas lumakas ng konti buga (at least for number 1 and 2 settings ng fan). Enough lang para mas maramdaman. Masyadong mahina ung number 1 eh.
By the way, natanggal na ung ceramic dun sa wire wound kaya nagiinit na talaga ung resistors. Not sure if that affects the cooling of my rear AC when it was still there. Do you also know kung nasaan ung resistor ng blower sa harap ng fx?
Currently, my blower is set at number 3 because I removed the resistors. I plan to put it back one of these days.

pongees,
the blower resistor for the front a/c unit is in the blower housing itself again to cool it off from thermal breakdown. some nissan sentras use a plate type resistor (no spring like nickel-chromium wire coil) that do not get hot as much as the nichrome type. sure you can vary the resistance to suit your needs. you can even buy these from electronic components stores as long as it has the proper amperage rating, just splice it to where the nichrome wire used to be.

Yung unit ko is FX97 7K gas.
Last a/c cleaning was August 2009. Pero kahit after a/c cleaning mahina pa rin.
Salamat.

January 28th, 2010 11:56 AM #6I once rode at the back of a friends 1998FX and was amazed on how cold it was. Puno kami and around 2pm in traffic.
