^ Compressor oil is usually replaced when there is major work within the system, i.e evaporator replacement or compressor re-sealing. The AC technician can also evacuate the system of refrigerant and oil. In a refrigerant recycling machine, the technican can determine how much refrigerant and oil was recovered from your vehicle.
He will then recharge the system with new oil (up to specification) and refrigerant. I don't know as to how much as different car brands may dictate different volumes. When I had my compressors replaced, the systems were evacuated and flushed before new oil and refrigerant was charged.Last edited by lowslowbenz; December 18th, 2012 at 11:11 PM.

^ Technically you can have your system flushed/cleaned, then refrigerant and oil replaced. The AC guys can do this, I just don't know how much.
