good evening mga master & gurus. i got my ride from the second hand car market almost a year na rin. tanong ko lang sana yung tungkol sa radiator fan ko, i just learned recently na naka-rekta pala sya (naka-disconnect ang wiring ng sensor). meaning the moment i start the car, umiikot na agad yung radiator fan. alam ko kasi, meron syang fan sensor (sorry for the word, newbie po kasi) that detects certain temperature before that sensor activates the fan when it's only needed to cool the engine. so yung kaso ko po is, palaging umiikot ang radiator fan all throughout gamit ko yung kotse ko. ang worry ko po kasi kung ganito, baka mapadali ang pagsira ng rad fan ko due to over work. last weekend, napalitan na po yung suspetsa kong sirang sensor nito ang naka konekta na po ang wiring nito pero this time kahit mataas na yung temperature sa metro -ayaw pa rin umikot ng fan.

mga sirs, my question po is ano po kaya ang probable cause or any other problem kaya ayaw umikot ng rad fan ko kahit napalitan na po ang sensor nito. all throughout na gamit ko yung oto dati, wala nman pong naging problema, no overheating nor loss of water/coolant and it just works perfectly.
as of now, binalik ko muna sa pagka disconnect para magamit ko yung oto.

maraming salamat po sa tulong nyo.

Have you change the engine coolant temp sensor? Or just the same sensor that came up w/ the car. (Most are mounted on the thermostat housing) (or on the side of the Eng. head )..that sends signal to the ( ECM ) Electronic Control Module that tells the cooling fan relay to start the fan... You might as well check if your car have thernostat.

baka mataas yun temp rating ng thermoswitch kaya di siya mag turn on.

    * v6dreamer: bale yung thermo switch lang po sir yung pinalitan ko.

    * afrasay: you mean, bka magkaiba yung klase ng nabili kong thermo switch? actually sir, i brought the car itself sa isang tindahan sa banawe (99 civic vti, btw) and they gave me this japan-made thermo switch na compatible nga daw sa ride ko.

which made me wonder noong hindi nga gumana yung rad fan ko, if there's more reason ba other than thermo switch kaya ayaw umikot ng rad fan.
sa ngayon, balik disconnect ko muna ulit yung wiring ng fan sensor. wala nman pong problema tulad ng dati sa overheating or whatsoever sa temperature.
i'm going to have it checked sa isang dependable shop sana that deals with this kind of problem. guys, can you recommend a shop? bale sa mandaluyong po ang location ko.

    TIA

its possible na mataas yun temp rating na binigay sa iyo. pero it works naman and it maintains the engine operating temp kaya ok na yan. magugulat ka nga pag tag ulan or in cool weather like baguio almost di umaandar ang engine fan and even the aux fan even with the aircon on.

check mo na rin yun thermostat. just recently pina check ko sa mechanic ko yun thermostat ko, nagulat ako wala siyang thermostat kaya pala from my house in marikina eh nasa libis c5 na ako malamig pa ang engine ko. ayun pinalagyan ko ng 71 degs na thermo, mag 1km nasa 80degs na siya. yun stock thermostat niya is around 85 to 90 degs pero i find this too high for our tropical climate. then tomorrow yun thermoswitch naman na 85 degs ang palitan ko. Again, I find the 100 degs thermoswitch too high for the aux fan to kick in for our weather. hirap ng ibaba at pag nag 100 to 110 deg. HTH

btw, my aux fan has two speed, low and high. yun low speed is switched from the pressure sensor of the receiver/dryer of the aircon system. yun high is controlled from the thermoswitch that takes the temperature from the water in the engine.

Update ko lang...nag palit na ako ng 81-85 degs thermoswitch. my engine now has a temp a hairline above 80 degs even in stop and go traffic yesterday noontime. dati nasa 90 and it even reaches 100 degs or more. I can now hear the fan on high speed which i seldom hear before this modification.
