Hi ulit! I encountered overheat last month and just few days ago I noticed nag hihigh temp na car ko. So the current issue sa car ko is I have to refill water every 3 days sa radiator and reservoir. If hindi ko marefill within 3 days, mag hihigh temp ito.

I am not sure also if nagloloko yung radiator fan kasi minsan di umaandar yung rad fan. My reservoir cap also is not securely connected to the mini hose connected to the radiator. Is it also the cause of water loss sa radiator and reservoir?

He said the problem was the thermo switch. Nagloloko raw. I forgot to ask how sure he is if it is really the problem. So me and my cousin looked for the thermo switch on 4 auto shops but can't look for the right one. It is for Civic Lxi '96. We decided to look for it next time at banawe kasi may gagawin pa siya and it's already getting dark.

So pauwi na ako mag isa, narealize ko medjo maliwanag pa and meron pa akong ibang mga shop na alam, so when I was about to buy I asked the auto shop first if meron silang mechanic na pede magbaklas ng thermo switch so that they could check it and look for the specific part sa shop but I failed kasi umalis daw mechanic nila that time. So I walked a little bit further and looked for a mechanic sa isang auto aircon shop and the mechanic told me he could help me remove the thermoswitch so pina tanggal ko sa kanya. Then nung tinanong ko na sa auto shop eh wala pa rin daw silang mahanap na same thermo switch. Then I told the mechanic who assisted me about the issues. He told me nagrerepair din daw siya minsan ng radiator. He checked the car and he said that the radiator fan is fine kasi sobrang lakas pa ng blow nito, yung thermo switch daw okay pa kasi gumagana yung fan, then he concluded that the problem is the thermostat. He is pointing inside the two big hoses. He said, I should bring it at banawe and let them look for the thermostat and install the new one.

I really don't know kung sino paniniwalaan ko sa dalawa hehe. How will I know the problem really is the thermostat or thermoswitch?

    Thanks!

Wala naman leak yung radiator, hoses or water pump? Kelan napalitan yung radiator cap? If the thermoswitch is faulty the fan will not turn on or intermittent, if the thermostat is stuck then the water will not circulate properly. If it were me, I would replace the cap, thermoswitch and thermostat, kaya naman DIY yung replacements, part costs around 2k total.

In your case, I would suggest the following

    1) Secure the hose between the reservoir and the radiator

    2) Do you have coolant? Kapag meron kasi coolant madaling i determine kung saan may leak dahil makikita mo yung mantsa nya agad

    3) When was the last time you flushed and cleaned your cooling system? Every 40,000 or 2 years whichever comes first recommended na dapat pinapalitan na ang laman

    4) Kung malakas andar ng fan and nag kick in lang ito once you reach normal temp then wala problem ang thermoswitch mo

    5) Replace the radiator cap
    6) Last resort ang changing the thermostat kung hindi pa rin magbago yan after doing the items above

Wala po ako coolant. Im planning to buy later sa DIY shop. Anong brand maganda? Anong specs kaya kailangan?

2nd hand po yung car. Got it 3 months ago so wala po akong idea when naflush yung system. Currently naitakbo ko na yung car ng 6km. Kapapachange oil ko lang din po.

    Salamat po sa suggestion!

In that case since wala ka idea when eh di ipa flush mo na muna para may point of reference ka na

Prestone concentrate 1 liter around 320 pesos ata then the rest ilagay mo Absolute or Wilkins distilled water or basta hindi tap water. Kahit hindi mo na muna palitan radiator cap and don't forget to secure first your hoses between reservoir and radiator

Yung sa akin kasi, i still need to switch on the aircon para lang gumana both fan and according to my mechanic, hindi nag auto yun fan kahit mainit na engine. TIA!
