Hondas uses 1.1 also on their OEM caps

The higher pressure rating cap raises pressure in the cooling system, by raising the pressure release level and also raises the release point on coolant flow between the reservoir and the radiator. It aids the cooling system under more extreme conditions. (CMIIW)

However, if you're running a stock radiator, not much engine mods, or you arent really experiencing problems with your cooling system it may be better to stick to the 0.9 (or whatever is recommended for your car). The higher pressure rating of the caps put more stress on you radiator and cooling system also which may hasten the lifespan of a stock cooling system (happened to some Nissan guys before who used the Nismo caps on their aged stock or fairly new replacement radiators)

It actually raises the pressure required before the coolant boils over... useful in some respects, but yes, stressful for a stock system.

There are 1.1 caps out there din for Nissan... some of the benefits, not as many drawbacks.

so...the more psi value, the less your radiator life (for stock radiators)? what if you go lower than the required psi value? let's say you installed 0.9 psi cap on a radiator which has a requirement of 1.1 psi...will it have a significant difference on the cooling performance?

It's best not to go below. lowering the cap pressure will make your coolant boil over much much sooner, especially if your cooling system is design for higher pressures.

It's always good to go one or two steps higher, but only if your system can take it... 1.35, in the case of those Nissan boys, was just a couple of steps too far.

i used a 1.35 bar cap on mine for quite a while with a stock radiator without any problems.

radcap pressure goes till 1.5 bar which is the highest i've seen locally available.
