Question on Radiator

Hi to all Tsikot members...For the past 3 years since i bought my VX200, Never ko pang nilalagyan ng tubig ito,,,right now nasa 4ok na ang mileage nito. My question is, do i need to put water (meron bang specific na brand for this, o ok na yung bottled water) sa radiator ko, kasi my thinking is yung coolant ang syang nag su supply ng tubig sa raidiator.. Tama ba ako sa iniisip ko> hope to hear from you... Happy Chinese New Year po...

hehehe...ganyan din yun XL ko dati. siguro wala pang 1 glass of water nadagdag ko since i bought it. if it ain't broke, why fix it.

As per the manual, may intervals iyan for flushing. Afterwards you fill it with a 50/50 mix of coolant and water.

You usually only open the cap to fill after flushing. Other than that, you add water through the coolant jug (just in case it goes way below minimum).

Use DISTILLED drinking water if possible. Para walang solids yung tubig which can clog the radiator over time.

Don't touch the radiator. If the coolant level gets low in the coolant reservoir (below the low line, not below the high line), add a 50/50 mix of coolant/distilled... otherwise, don't touch it.

Puwede din i-convery yung tsikot mo to maintenance free, water free coolant, pero imported pa ito, and it costs $$$. You might be able to buy it at Ford, though, the Focus uses a lifetime sealed coolant system already.

Almost any shop can flush your radiator. If you have socket wrenches, puwede mo ngang Do-It-Yourself. Just check the manual to see how much distilled water and coolant you need to refill the radiator.

remember dont open the radiator cap with bare hands, put a damp rag before twisting it...mahirap ng matalsikan...

Atsaka have a catch basin for the fluid you drain from the radiator. It's pretty simple naman, you drain the radiator by unscrewing the plug underneath, then you cap the hole, pour in the flushing or cleaning agent and water (kung meron), run it a while, then drain it again and refill with 50/50 coolant/water. Tapos!

Interval depends on vehicle and coolant type. Some vehicles have long life coolants.

You can have it flushed at the dealer or at most gasoline stations or even DIY. Just dispose of the used coolant properly as it is very poisonous [yet very tastes like Kool-Aid].

On some engines, you also have to open the drain in the engine block (aside from the radiator drain itself). Kasi kapag closed ang thermostat, hindi mo made-drain lahat through the bottom drain.

Consumer groups are petitioning coolant manufacturers to add ingredients to their ethelyne glycol coolants to make it taste bad. Just like LPG manufacturers adding odor to otherwise odorless LPG. Naiinom kasi ng mga bata and ng mga pets. Mabilis pa naman makamatay ang coolant. Konting konti lang ma-ingest mo, yari ka na.

Ahhh... kaya pala andaming gumagamit ng coolant at anti-freeze na panglason ng mga asawa. :lol:

normal ba yung nag-aadd ka ng water sa reservoir every week?..is this a problem on the radiator or water pump?

Leak yun. Check your hoses and your radiator for holes, if you don't find any at first, doesn't mean they're not there. Hard and brittle hoses often leak at the ends when the engine is hot. Also check for leaks under the water pump.

If you can't find anything, try leaving the radiator cap off and running your engine. If you see bubbles or surging when you rev the engine (once it's hot), could be a gasket problem... which is expen$ive.

Pero it depends pa rin. Pag mainit at matrapik, nag-e-evaporate naman talaga ang water paunti-unti. If the level goes down slowly over a month, it's probably okay.
