Hello People! Help me please... My car is been overheating, it started when i drove cavite to pampanga, when it heat 130 km/hr. it started overheating... since then it never stops. when city driving its ok, but when i drive to cavite to manila it overheats!! waahh!!! one time, the temperature rise to high, but when i check the radiator and reserve, its barely hot. i cud touch the radiator. i tought it was the timing belt, i had it tune up.....Possible suspects i think is the radiator cap, temperature sender(thermostat) is not working or palpak, water pump though it works properly...please help me!!!! thank you so much!!! BTW, my dad is a very good mechanic but he has no time to repair my car, due to his job...he always say's every weekend...HElp me....

sounds like a water pump issue, baka it's spinning a bit too fast at high speed and di na nakakacirculate ng tubig ng maayos.

    Huh?

Engine is hot and radiator is warm to touch, definitely thermostat. Its not opening to let hot water get cooled down in your radiator.

What vehicle is this? Is this the first time you've ever driven it over 100-120?

If the radiator seems to be okay, and the water reserve isn't going down, it could be a blockage of the thermostat, or a problem with the water pump (slipping belt, perhaps or cavitation?)

Hmmm... can't be a fan problem, as it usually overheats in city driving instead of highway driving if it's the fan... but make sure that they're both spinning at full speed.

If it's a head problem, the car should be drinking water, but that's not out of the question. Though 130 km/h isn't fast enough to stress the engine that way (unless it's a diesel). Check your oil to be sure there's no water in it, either.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Same thought entered my mind... try revving the car at a mid to high rpm for several minutes at standstill. If it heats up the thermostat can be a possible culprit; this was the case with our old Corolla before.

Ngayon lang ako nakarinig ng ganito ah. Diba dapat pag mabilis yun takbo mo mas lumalamig yun makina dahil sa hangin. Yun Corolla kasi namin ganun e, pag mabilis takbo bumababa yun temperature. Masyado umiinit yun makina pero kulang tubig, pero bakit pag city driving no problem... hmmm...

Nangyari na sakin yan last January lang. EG naman. Coming from Laguna sa SLEX at about 140 km/hr. Pansin ko na lang nasa 3/4 na temp ko. Pinatay ko aircon ayun bumalik sa normal. Since then I replaced the following: water pump, aircon aux fan motor and radiator. Before I replaced the radiator, nung papunta Tagaytay, direcho naman andar, lumalagpas ng kalahati temp ko kapag paahon ung daan pero bumabalik din normal pag patag na. But after replacing radiator, hi speed man o paahon ung daan, my temp has always been at the normal level.

You mentioned also that you can touch the radiator? I'm assuming it's the top part that you can touch? Baka ung ilalim ang mainit. I read somewhere na kung hindi pantay ang temp ng buong radiator, malamang may bara. The coolant cannot flow through the entire radiator, thus may parts na mainit meron hindi.

There are many components that make up the cooling system, just make sure mapatignan mo lahat.

Temp indicator should go up when your AC is ON. If you check, your AC condenser is located in front of your engine cooling radiator, so it not getting the full effect of cooling when your AC is ON. Actually, your condenser also act as barrier for any foreign object that might puncture your engine radiator, which still keep your running and getting you wherever your going. But as you said, your indicator is not reacting when the AC is engage, you might have to check if that thermometer sensor is properly installed by your mechanic, if its installed make sure that it has lithuim grease on it.

if you overheat when at high speed it's either a busted headgasket or a radiator that isn't working properly na due to bara. malamang it's clogged in some of the fins. enough to cool the engine properly in traffic but kulang na pag mabilis.

please pardon my reincarnating this thread. sir kokoy_a, na-solve na ba problema mo? what finally was the culprit? paano ginawa mo? while in nlex yesterday, i experienced the same symptoms - at 120kph temp needle goes up to 3/4 and a/c does not function. if i limit at 2500 rpm max, no problem, temp stays at 1/2. upon entering manila, back to normal...

yup it's a/t. but i dont think sliding na dahil at 120 kph, rpm is at 3000 - which i think is just about normal. and i had the radiator overhauled just 2 months ago.

pinalitan ko yung radiator cap this weekend, busted na. normal ang temp nya in short drives in manila, ma-check ko in long drives this midweek when i go to bataan..

replace the radiator or check for signs of a busted head gasket.
