mga tsikoteers.. im a newbie sa cars. got my 2nd hand honda vti last 3 months ago. may question lang po ako regarding sa overheat. last 3 weeks ago, nag overheat ako then dinala ko sa mekaniko, ok naman daw yung fan and relays. sabi nang mekaniko is to replace the thermo switch. then pinalitan ko na sa banawe tapos ok na yung ride and that was 3 weeks ago, today at 8pm bago ko pumasok pinainit ko muna yung oto and i noticed that there is a white smoke sa muffler d ko na masyado pinansin then umalis na ko pag dating ko nang makati. tumaas ulet yung temp ko. mga bossing help naman po. thanks..

kung sa umpisa lang yung white smoke while pinapainit mo pa yung sasakyan mo at nawawala din after few minutes, posible na moisture lang sa muffler. pero kung nagbabawas yung tubig/coolant mo, malamang me problema ang head gasket mo at iyon ang reason kaya nagoverheat car. mag pa leakdown test ka para masigurado kung ok pa yung HG mo.... my cent

Do check the radiator often kung nababawasan yung coolant?

Mga boss thank you sa mga inputs. i did bring my car yesterday sa mekaniko to check on it. sinabi ko na nagooverheat yung oto. what they did agad is to have a compression test and leak test ata yun. they found out na bagsak daw. inopen nila yung engine cover then tanggal spark plug then may gauge sila na ginamit. sbi sken top overhaul na daw kailangan. but they didnt explain tapos what i did is lumipat ako sa isang shop ulet, then pina check ko. ang ginawa nung mekaniko is use a bottled water then nilagay nya yung hose nang reservoir ko tapos ni rev nila then may bubbles dun sa bottled water. sabi sken ulet kailangan nang top overhaul. kailangan daw palitan yung vavle seal, vavle guide and head gasket. pasensya na mga boss. wala talaga ko alam pagdating sa makina. asking for some clarifications and explanations mga tsikoteers... thank you..

Usually head gasket are the fisrt to fail after a car gets overheated so definitely papalitan mo na yan. Yung valve seal at valve guide kung maarin idamay mo na nga rin but buy OEM ha, sayang kung replacement lang. Top overhaul pa nga lang yan so medyo mura pa yan. Ok na yan kesa lumala pa IMO. Pero the valve seal and guide may not need replacement once opened na, makikia naman yan if hindi na pantay or may mga lamat na nga.

Thanks sa reply Ry_Tower.. i'll bring my car na bukas sa shop for the overhaul. worry ko lng is they didnt check other parts na after the compression and leak test. accurate ba yun? and one more thing they will supply the parts. is it better kung ako mag supply by buying it directly sa honda o ok na sa kanila? salamat po ulet.

Check for the following : 1) Wiring harness or connectors; 2) Cooling fan; Radiator hose kung may leaks; 3) Radiator kung malinis at walang leak ang cap; 4)Water pump; 5) Fan belt dapat nasa tamang higpit;5) Engine coolant temperature sensor. Yung temperature sensor ay nakaconnect sa electronic box or electronic control module. kaya kailangan sa reputable repair shop ka magpacheck-up ng tsikot mo para cguradong makita and sakit. My opinion ay sa aking pagreresearch sa internet. I have this overheat problem too at ang problema lang pala ay nasa electrical connectors at leaks sa hoses. Take your time....

Aside from the basic R & R method by most mechanics, they usually overlook on taking measurements on warpage....pray also that your head and block is not yet out of limits with regards to warpage. As per your info, your car overheated (how many times?)....you may or may not but usually if a top overhaul is really needed, valve seals are replaced and the valve seat is ground back to specs.
