    guys;

    Thanks.

make sure na hindi lang tubig ang nilalagay mo, you have to put in a coolant (prestone) kasi maliit lang radiator mo.

Make sure the fan works also.

Bubbles check ko nga last time may bubbles nga. check ko ulit.

    pero

could also be a faulty water pump- when you view the radiator top (with cap out, engine idling) is the water moving slowly or fast? you'll only see movement once the thermostat opens.

    CLAVEL3699,

to help you troubleshoot the problem, let me relate my experiences on my honda civic esi

overheat problem #1 : leaky radiator plastic top, nag-crack maliit lang, epoxy didn't fix it, the problem eventually developed into a major leak on the seal between the metal radiator and the plastic top ... fixed by replacing the plastic top with the usual metal welded to the top, the radiator cap was also replaced because the orig cap won't fit the new metal top, the new cap has larger diameter and is readily available in auto shops

problem #2: a crack on a small rubber hose somewhere at the top of the engine, shaped like the letter "L", about 3/8" diameter and 6" long ... fixed by replacing the hose

problem #3: a crack on the "bypass" rubber hose, the hose is used to bypass the heating coil which would have been installed inside the dash if the car is sold on cold countries, shaped like a "U", 1" diameter and 14" total length ... fixed by replacing the hose

problem #4: the (now replacement) radiator cap was leaky, since it looks intact, i figured that it may only need a better/thicker seal at the upper part of the cap ... the fix was a fabricated rubber seal using tire interior, shaped like a big washer

problem #5 has not occurred yet :D

now as far as your problem goes, losing water would only mean a leak, probably a really tiny leak ... assuming it is a leak that releases water/steam outside the engine (not to inside, e.g., combustion chambers, or oil paths caused by faulty gaskets or engine crack), then you may try locating the leak by first filling water, install cap, run the engine idle to normal temperature, then check around all hoses, hose connections, etc with bare hand ... be careful kasi mainit na ang engine bay ... if you have a tiny leak somewhere, you'd feel the heat of steam rushing out ... you may also use your ear to listen for some hissing sound that the leak may cause (you may shutoff engine and while it is still hot, the leak would still be active) ... this is how i found all those leaks in my car, one way or another

    i hope this helps.

    good luck! :bald:

    Hi Everyone,

I also have a problem with my car sa overheating(Kia 96 lxi sedan).I seem to put water almost every other day to my radiator kasi it seems to empty quickly in the reservoir tank. I have recently changed the radiator cap, also i checked the valve at the drainage portion and it seems to be fine. the temperature gauge seems to be okay since it gives the right temp. the radiator fans are automatically turned on whenever the temp increases.
I still do not know though as to why my car looses a lot of water. This never happens before...help...

Better check for leaks or maybe your water pump is broken? Check your hoses also.

parang water pump ang problem. Because the only time the water pump fails is when it starts leaking out water

check under the car if you have a big puddle of water... also check around the water pump area for signs of water stains.

    Pasali naman sa Overheating topic.

I'm currently solving an overheating problem sa Boxtype namin. Operating temp is at 1/2 level on highway driving keeping revs at 2.5K, kapag medyo agressive driving na it goes up past the level and up to 3/4. I've been reading previous posts and would be checking fluid flow inside the radiator.

    Sirs,

Anyone knows what should be the radiator cap PSI rating for a Lancer boxtype (Astron 1600). 0.9PSI or 1.4 ???
