    Mga sirs,

Needs some advice po. Lately, my ride is experiencing overheating when the a/c is on. The temp reaches 80% kahit saglit pa lang nakabukas ang aircon esp in traffic. But pag umuulan naman po, kahit ilang hours naka-on ang a/c ay wala naman akong nakikitang problema.

Nung dinala ko sa trusted mechanic para patignan ang thermostat and sabi nya ay wala daw thermostat ang old cars like mine na stanza 86. If this true, how can I avoid this overheating issue? May mga dapat po ba iinstall sa auto para hinde na mag-overheat or ano pa ba mga dapat ipa-diagnose? Pinacheck ko naman po ang electrical pero wala naman nakitang problem.

Mejo nakaka-alarm po kasi everytime my temp reaches more than 50%, cause 1 time tinirik ako dahil may mga bumigay na fuses due to overheating.

TIA po mga gurus, more power

A car will not overheat due to a lack of a thermostat, but it needs it to reach operating temperature quickly. Without one, the engine runs colder longer, which makes for poor fuel economy and increased oil wear.

An 86 Stanza should actually have a thermostat. If it's gone, the previous owner probably removed it. Some people remove the thermostat to cure an overheating problem, but this doesn't really cure it. It just masks the problem until it becomes worse.

What's really causing your engine to heat up when you turn on the AC may be a stuck auxiliary fan or weak fans in general. That's where I'd check first, but not being able to see your car and the condition of your coolant (is it a coolant-water mix? Is it full of rust? Is it muddy? etcetera) and your cooling system (radiator hose condition, radiator fins, leaks, etcetera), I can't say that this is the problem with 100% certainty.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Sir niky Im not that familiar when it comes to radiator...so Im not sure about my coolant if its coolant-water mix...Can you enlighten me?

Tubig lang po kasi nilalagay ko sa rad everytime na ginagamit ko un auto.

Hinde ko pa dinadala sa aircon shop cause I wanted to collate all your suggestions po sana before I bring my car (for me to have an idea) since I do not have any trusted aircon mechanic, baka po kasi kung ano anong experiment lang gawin sa auto sabay singilin ako ng mahal.

    TIA

*ts - first of all, hindi dahil sa wala kang thermostat kaya ka nag-o-overheat. I assure you 101%.

now to start analyzing, kapag naka-aircon lang po ba kayo nag-o-overheat? how about if off ang aircon?

kapag on lang ang aircon tsaka lumalabas ang problem, then it might be due to your Aux Fan (mabagal or hindi na umiikot).

overheating even without aircon? might be barado ang hoses mo, might be kulang sa fluid ang radiator or hindi talaga umiikot ang fan mo sa radiator. pwede ring umiikot ang fan pero mahina na, it can cause overheating too.

1 good suggestion is flush your radiator (google how to, madali lang ito), then put 50-50 mix of coolant and distilled water in radiator. run the engine then punuin lang ng punuin ang radiator.

wala atang koneksiyon ung thermostat with overheating...

better check your radiator or hose for leaks.

Yung nangyari sa akin dati('89 corolla XL), aux fan ung bumigay; no problems encountered after replacing it, although pumapalya minsan minsan -- surplus lang kasi ung binili ko.

actually a stuck up thermostat would cause your car to everheat.. so there is a conection. if your car doesnt have a thermostat.. then you need to make sure that your fans are working ok. if you have electric fans then make sure its spinning at the rated speed its rated for.. if u have the fan attached to the engine. then make sure the clutch fan is still working..

if both those fan systems are not working properly.. then most likely on a hot day the fans cant circulate enough cool air to cool your radiator.. and with the aircon on,,. the condenser needs air to cool it down too..

Sir pag naka-on lang po ang a/c ko naeencounter ang prob e. Pag naka-off naman ay walang issue. Lately ko lang ito naexperience, dati naman kahit gaano katagal naka-on ang a/c ay walang problema.

Pano ko po ba malalaman kung ang iniikot ng fan ko ay ang sapat at nsa tamang speed pa...wala kasi akong nakikitang difference sa ikot before at present...although Im not 100% sure po thats why Im askin for some indications or signs ng malfunction aux fans po para macheck ko personally.

    Thank you

ung aux fan ko kasi dati, medyo halata na mahina na ung andar -- i tried jamming a piece of walis tingting into it, and it managed to stop the fan from turning.

Sir ano po ba itsura ng coolant (para lang po bang tubig yan), san po nakakabili nyan at how much?

Ano po bang tatak ang dapat kong kunin...universal po ba ang coolant, compatible in every car's radiator?

    Thanks
