had a leak in my evap and this was temporarily fixed by welding the hole. im planning to replace the original (DENSO, i think, civic 99) evap soon.
I qot a qoute from an ac shop of a Taiwan replacement evap, i dont know the brand they just labeled it serpentine worth 2k. Would you recommend this?

the original DENSO evap cost around 6.5k.

If buying OEM make sure it is original not rebranded.

It is difficult to tell which A/C parts are reliable or not on the surface. Some manufacturers value engineer their products by using thinner materials or lowered fin pitches just to get eke out more margins. And these are pretty hard to detect by just looking at the item.

One way but not foolproof is to weigh the part. Heavier normally means more material. And given high pressure conditions, thicker materials will normally withstand fatigue longer.

Be mindful of fin symmetry and weld joints as well. It is a good hallmark of how a manufacturer values quality.

    ~ 13 year old honda crv 2.0 liter 4wd

after ~ 13 years biglang one day ayaw lumamig ang aircon. busy ako so my relative who is an amateur mechanic had it fixed at a local car aircon shop owned by his friend. Butas evaporator. cost to replace was 6000 pesos, lahat kasama pati labor and parts and freon. Now noticably mas mahina ang aircon specially pag naka park sa nooontime sun and not moving. Pag cloudy days or gabi or running at highway speeds pwede na. I have to assume na pangit ang linagay na evaporator, kaya nga mura

i can only hope siguro na madali mabutas uli and next time ako nalang ang magpapa ayos. magkano kaya ang magpa replace ng evaporator ng CRV first gen using quality parts?

ang alam ko sa mga Honda, uso yung gumagamit ng JDM evap. noticeably mas malamig daw ito compared to OEM na galing local.

There's a good chance the evacuation and charging of the refrigerant loop was not done properly. I suggest you have this checked.

If there's the tiniest amount of air in the system, it will degrade performance.

same here. the more expensive laminated design evaporator costs more than serpentine, but it does cool significantly better. worth the extra cost, in my opinion.

    -laminated evaporator 3,500
    -Serpentine evaporator 2,500
-local evaporator yun maraming tubo na paikot-ikot 1,500

konti lang ang deference mamili ka sa laminated and serpentine type pareho lang orig yan, basta wag local...
