October 12th, 2004 04:15 AM #1Guys, My a/c is leaking freon and the typical method of locating the leak using soap and water is not working. I hear there are other methods of "sniffing" leaking refrigerant either with UV light or gas leak sniffers. do you know of any shops that use these. Medyo mabusisi kasi ang a/c plumbing ng kotse ko. Thanks.

October 12th, 2004 09:25 AM #2I used to frequent an AC shop in Evangelista St. in Makati. They use a gas canister with a small flame to trace freon leaks. When the flame sniffs even a trace of freon, it changes color. The owner, a fil-am retiree, said that he personally brings the stuff from the US. He is a nice guy to talk to and is very helpful.
The shop is located along Evangelista st. near the corner of Arnaiz st in Makati. Forgot the name of the shop but if you are coming from Arnaiz st. it is on the right side. The frontage is very small but there is a nice big working area at the back.

ipa baba mo yung evaporator.............
ilulubog nila sa tubig yan with air pressure pag
wala yung compressor naman .................
then condenser..................
pag wala paring leak papalitan mo yung buong tubing mo.
sure ball na yan
sya nga pala pag nag pa alis ka nyan papalitan mo na rin langis ng compressor mo pati filter drier na rin para clean ulit ang system mo.

UV works if your refrigerant has a dye blended into it (e.g. on some Isuzu Troopers).
