if i were you, i'd shell out the extra dough and buy a brand new one nalang kasi di ka sigurado sa quality pag surplus or 2nd hand, and baka magdoble-doble pa gastos in the long run.

    my 2 cents lang po.

I agree with sir ssaloon. It's better to get a brand new one than surplus. Swertihan ang mga surplus where most breakdown in less than a year. If your interested in brandnew your local Honda dealer or Sanden shop may help you. For surplus try Sprint in Banawe. Goodluck.

I just changed the a/c compressor in a 95 civic esi, bought a brand new Sanden TRS90-3058 for P10.5k, no warranty, from cubao. Sanden quoted P18k with 6mons warranty!

You'll have to look for a reliable shop to do the cleaning, leak test, installation work otherwise, the compressor won't last. Change the receiver but keep the expansion valve if you've changed it with a quality part before. Spent like P16k for compressor, expansion valve, drier, cleaning and assembly.

Is your system on freon r134?

its hard to find a nice surplus part. it may look clean and nice on the outside pero pag nakabit mo na tsaka yan magsisimula magloko.

imho lang po. kung if you are really planning to keep your car pa to lets say mga 5 years more pa. i would suggest that you shell out extra money (gaya ng mga sinabi ng iba dito), and have it replaced with a brand new one. not only it comes with warranty, but it will last a long time.

had an experience before na nag-conk out din yung compressor ko dun sa ex-car ko. had it replaced by a surplus compressor, which costs around 3k. at first it worked fine, pero after three months nasira ulit. so palit ulit ako ng surplus, which again costs around 3k, pero after nine months nasira ulit. so what i did is to shell out 12k for a brand new sanden compressor. it lasted around two more years until i had to dispose of the car na (which incidentally, malamig pa rin yung aircon).

if you weigh the expenses, i spent around 6 thou for a year. kung bibili ka ng brand new one, which costs around 12k, matagal mo nang magagamit (or for example: 12 thou/5 years (estimated life span ng compressor or more at that). Its only about 2 thousand a year.

imho, its ok to buy surplus ac compressor so long as you will do overhaul to ensure reliability. malay mo, baka konting tama na. at least maagapan mo na. yung old compressor mo, baka puwede pang i-recondition.

    non-vtec,

Ano ba nasira sa compressor mo? I usually have my aircon tech open the compressor to look for the damage rather than gamble on a surplus one. I can't afford a new one so out of the question na yun.

If you are going to buy BNEW compressors for any make of a/c system on any car, bili ka nalang sa Excellar in Banawe. Owner, Jeff is very helpful also.

everytime you swith ON the a/c unit of your car, the A/C compressor magnetic clutch engages with the pulley, producing the "click" sound. Kung ang setting ng thermostat mo ay masyadong mababa (CCW masyado), you will notice na more frequent yung 'click' sound na maririnig due to the engage/disengage action of the magnetic clutch.

i agree. dito ako bumibili ng mga a/c parts like exp valves, drier, evaporator. hindi taga unlike some aircon shops.

Kaya mura dun kasi Excellar imports their own stuff from Singapore, US, Japan and Germany. I'm friends with the owner, we regularly go to BRC kasi. Mura din ng mga RECARO products niya.

    Bandido,

    icon,

Lahat kaming magkakasama sa Autoplus nagpapa-tono.

Excellar does not service a/c systems but they can recommend you to a number of good a/c shops na malapit / mas convenient para sayo.
